"games as an art form" was truly disastrous for the industry. it is totally okay to make your game have a lot of artistic value, but it also needs to justify its existence as a game instead of some other type of media, like a movie for instance. if all you do is move the stick around and push a button every now and then in between exposition and cutscenes it's almost like your game would be better as a movie... just something to watch instead of play.
that new no man's sky update looks crazy man. i'm really impressed that they have kept updating it. i don't really think i'll ever go back to it because the gameplay itself has become a little too bloated for my tastes, but if i do it'll be in creative mode so i can check out the new tech they have added. looks really nice and i hope they can make their next game more streamlined in the gameplay department.

i've never played ff9 but the music from all of square's games are just so fucking good. they have legendary composers.
