played a bit of the mortal shell 2 beta and it feels better to play but ultimately it's still just more fuckin souls slop dude. rest at a thing to recover, enemies respawn when you do, the thing is like 15 minutes away when you die so now you gotta go all the way back and replay the last 15 minutes. all the combat is just waiting for an enemy to do something and then attacking a couple times. there are always dudes around corners that come out and get a cheap hit on you.
like it straight up just felt like i was playing dark souls with slightly more responsive controls. so if that's your thing i guess... go off king.
played the demo for the new onimusha game. never played any of the others.
idk man it's not doing it for me. it has some cool stuff going on with the combat but it is ultimately still the same tired shit of waiting for an enemy to attack you, parrying, hitting them two times, and then doing it all over again. it's not quite pure parry slop since it does have some unique elements but like... it's pretty much that.
it also does that thing i hate where there is a needlessly long input buffer for attacks that take a while to actually come out. i like my games to feel snappy, but a lot of these third person melee action games are going for something way more weighted and realistic. i'll click the button to attack and it doesn't seem like anything is happening so i'll click it again, but then i actually do attack and a second one comes out that fucks me over because the enemy doesn't react to the attack that hit at all. they just get to do their moves willy nilly while one attack from them puts me on my ass and they can get a free follow up.
it's just getting really old at this point. i never liked it to begin with either. just give me another fucking devil may cry capcom.
