@matrix I mean, Marx was speaking of that way back in the 1800s as a common tactic of capitalism

Never forget what the CEO said: "babies aren't that profitable", regarding the baby formula shortage

@Spaghettimon Well Marx and his followers/offshoots are basically conspiracy theorists so I guess

@matrix Capitalism is a giant pyramid scheme and is measurably on the decline since it started

Considering however the real meaning of conspiracy theory, yes

Not believing any is as stupid a believing every

@Spaghettimon
I meant conspiracy theorist with negative connotation

Capitalism has been falling down since forever and yet it's lifted ton of people out of poverty and generally has improved the state of the world.

@matrix It's true that it has, even Lenin would agree
Lenin said that "Imperialist capitalism is far less oppressive than the colonialist capitalism before it, and that far less oppressive than feudalism"

However, capitalism has its limits on how many it can lift from poverty, and the limit has already been reached

Such as old systems fell because they became obsolete, capitalism will fall for a more decentralized system, a community-based system (whether in the marxist sense or not) and that is, by deffinition, community-ism, communism

@Spaghettimon
Well yes, if capitalism falls, we revert to a more shittier world. Out of ashes does not often rise Phoenix.

You are now playing language games, communism is when community exists.

@matrix Capitalism won't "fail", it will, and is already, obsolete

>communism is when community exists.
Communism is when community-centered organization

Remember that Marx didn't invent the word, merely gave his interpretation and build his ideology upon it

To this day there are non-marxist communists, such as Zizek

@Spaghettimon
You aren't countering my counter to capitalism, you are simply reasserting your original claim.

@matrix Because you didn't counter capitalism
You said that if it fails we will go to something worse
This is not countering it, but saying it's actually the best system possible

@Spaghettimon
I fucked up, I meant: You aren't countering my counter to your claim about capitalism

Yes, capitalism is the best. It is here and it's working good enough. Claiming that failure is inevitable and after the failure only something better can appear is simply a baseless assertion.

Follow

@Spaghettimon
Yes, the only known alternative is more children starting.
Plus I would assume there's more to this story and it isn't as bad as the headline makes it look

@matrix There was no starvation in the Soviet Union from 1947 to 1991
Hmm, I wonder what system they were in at the time

Burkina Faso in 4 years of communism became agriculturally self-sustaining, Albania eliminated hunger and so on and so forth

@Spaghettimon
Bruh, it's because government lockdowns, capitalism my ass archive.ph/MF9Zw
Also that does not count as a famine, you are making an unfair comparison.

Albania relied on the USSR and Chine and experienced shortages of food and material without them.

Oh, looks like Burkina Faso short term boom from economic restructuring extractive economies usually experience.
