@milo
Yeah. I mean it takes time to register trauma too, some people ignore it or tell themselves it's just normal.
@sim @_p@shitposter.club

@realcaseyrollins @sim @_p to us looking down from the nosebleeds? Yeah. To the abusive single mother who only ever knew the pain and trauma? it's a day in the park.
@sim @_p @realcaseyrollins That's the crap part about the mind. It's easy to pick things up and never remember the context around why it's a good or bad thing to have.

@sim
Whoa, that deep.

Reminds me of a question I meant to post last week but forgot; I wonder how many forms of mental illness aren't necessarily mental illnesses but more like mental injuries caused by constant trauma
@_p@shitposter.club @milo

@milo @_p @realcaseyrollins Yeah. Honestly, I feel like this was drilled into me but it's been hard to pinpoint where I picked it up. Also, who would gain from me hating myself? Deep question time...

@milo
This is true. But teaching one bad morals and life lessons is damaging in the long run and causes more hurt and trauma later in life
@sim @_p@shitposter.club

@realcaseyrollins @_p @sim i mean if you think about it, teaching good morals is sometimes traumatic, because it's usually in response to doing the wrong thing.
@realcaseyrollins @sim @_p

It's more a malicious discipline that hijacks the same methods of teaching good morals.

> Kids are like little sponges, absorbing all the information around them and trying to make sense of it.
@realcaseyrollins @crunklord420 @comicbot It's a depiction of what happens when you play Team Fortress 2. If it isn't funny to you, it's because it isn't funny.

@sim @Lainyboy@neckbeard.xyz @_p@shitposter.club Yep. IDK how long it would take but I think it'd be best to try that in how one raised their own families.

This was my motivation behind this toot from yesterday: gameliberty.club/@realcaseyrol

@realcaseyrollins @_p @Lainyboy You know, I did wonder what was happening there. But like you say, I can see that if you have that message drilled into you then it would be very limiting. I do hope that things change for future generations. There must be a way to have a generation of healthy people who have healthy relationships with others around them.

@milo @sim @_p@shitposter.club

> drilling that guilt or hatred into them

This is actually still trauma, but a more social trauma.

@sim @_p @realcaseyrollins internalization of guilt, or even hatred has to either breed from trauma, and/or brainwashing by drilling that guilt or hatred into them

@sim @Lainyboy@neckbeard.xyz @_p@shitposter.club Absolutely, it just does not apply to everyone.

@milo @_p @realcaseyrollins Yeah. Also, if white people didn't internalise then I don't think white guilt would hold so much sway in the public opinion. Internalising is one tactic that humans have to help them survive situations they are in, especially when they don't have control over what is happening to them. It is worse for little children who hold even less control compared to the adults around them.

@sim @Lainyboy@neckbeard.xyz @_p@shitposter.club No but that memory is passed down because their parents couldn't or their grandparents couldn't, so they told their children that they couldn't either.

@_p @Lainyboy @realcaseyrollins To be honest, I don't envy the position of being police. It must be a very stressful job. It would also attract some of the worst people out there, who look to abuse others or have power over them.
