@lnxw37a2 @realcaseyrollins I had leftover outback fries in my fridge. The dogsitter was raving about them… 😋

also McDonald's fries are flavored with milk byproducts or something? They're not vegan in the US.

And if I'm being honest, I don't think they taste quite as good in Canada.

Just an FYI:

Here in SoCal, most chain fast food places have at least one veggie-based entree. With meatless burgers, tacos, burritos, "chicken", and so on. It is spreading rapidly here.

I would not be surprised if Outback and other such restaurants followed suit soon. Without changing much at all, they gain access to a customer segment that was formerly inaccessible.

Also, personal experience: the Incredible Whopper was not very good, but it really did taste like their regular Whopper. Del Taco's Beyond Beef tacos taste like their regular tacos, which also means they are not very good.

However, Carl's Jr (and I presume Hardees, which has the same owner) has Beyond Beef burgers that are pretty good.

I'll ask my 2nd and 3rd sons whether they see such products in their areas (Nebraska and Missouri). 1st son's diet precludes eating out at all, so I doubt he's paying attention.

I'm not a vegan (or a vegetarian of any kind), but I do try to buy the meatless products from time to time, so the option will remain for those who are vegetarian.

@shebang @Galena There are a few places with veggie burgers, most notably Burger King. But yeah, fast food isn't really the best vegan-friendly type of food. That's like going to Outback and being mad the food there ain't vegan either.

@shebang Isn't Wendy's entire gimmick pretending to have better meat than all the other fast food places? And tonnes of bacon on everything? Seems weird to go to a fast food joint all about meat then complain you don't eat meat.
Vegans should avoid fast food places in general - there's rarely any guarantee their non-meat products are actually vegan, due to potential cross contamination from things being cooked on the same grills. I think that's why they use terms like "plant based" or "veggie burger", instead of "vegetarian" or "vegan".

Actually, that gives me an idea. I wonder how successful a fast food place specializing in vegetarian and/or vegan food would be. It's a niche market, but it's not like non-vegans can't eat vegan meals.

Omg I’m at Wendy’s and there is a hardcore vegan lol of course she is ahead of me and listing off all the things she doesn’t eat.

Bitch it’s fast food. It’s not your kitchen at home or a fancy restaurant where you can be picky. It’s a fucking Wendy’s, it’s barely food, let along vegan food.

all admins I've had the pleasure of interacting with are usually quite cordial, for the record, and puni is cool @realcaseyrollins
@realcaseyrollins nah, I'm annoying and disrespectful. Nepu is fine though.

If you can read this you're probably cool tbh and so is your instance admin
