Anyone who can play guitar (or at least can read guitar tabs), can you try playing this? I don't plan on using this for anything. This is the only way I can get ChatGPT to output music outside of generating source code that requires libraries that I don't feel like installing.
@xianc78
Ok... I'm intrigued
@xianc78 Yeah this is like, what you do when you pick up a guitar after years of not playing and just noodle around for a minute while you try to recall a riff
@Saber Ugh! I kind of expect that too. I really don't want to learn music theory, but I also don't want to use stock music in my games.
@xianc78 @Saber If you want to be optimistic then you could kind of see where it’s generating them from - The gap between 5 and 7 sounds good, it’s the fact that it keeps dropping that half note (?) from 5 to 4 that just sounds off and dumb. Like this sounds similar to a beginner song on guitar that’s meant to teach kids the basics of moving between strings, almost like an exercise.
It’s simple and easy to pick up until the last 3rd of the line, where it forces a beginner to do a little planning ahead in order to drop back down to the A string and hit that 5-4-2-4 part again.
I don’t remember any of the sheet music reading so I can’t promise much though
@xianc78 only uses two strings and loops the same notes 4 times with only a minor variation, it's video game music alright xD
Okay, I can get it to output music in MusicXML, but I've noticed that it doesn't even bother finishing the file. It always leaves out the closing tags.
