Using phone numbers as any kind of security was a mistake. I recall logging into the former owner of my number's facebook account accidentally by sticking the number in as the username and typing in the code they texted me. The only reason tech companies "require" it is so they can later sell it to phone marketers. Anything else is just cope to justify it

@noyoushutthefuckupdad This is why I only use the fediverse on my computer and absolutely refuse to use this on my phone. I think social media isn't as addictive when you take smartphones (or even dumb phones via SMS-posts) out of the equation.

Debian packaging sucks. Aptly should make it easier; and it does once you figure out all the command, but the documentation is okay but not great and the error messages are absolute fucking garbage.
