https://twitter.com/ethanbdm/status/1342127722898870273?s=20 Public health officials lying like politicians is the reason why people distrust them like politicians. Maybe if the experts behaved in a trustworthy manner people would be more likely to trust them.

@Moon I can't remember the last time I actually wanted anything for Christmas.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad And yet people say that we are living in a cartoon renaissance.

@polishlad @meowski @rasterman Are you sure that rainbow represents LGBT? Arching rainbows don't imply that compared to rainbow flags.

@brother @Moon But with a meshnet, companies will naturally own nodes. Once their computers are connected, they are automatically nodes of the network. And I don't think that any company could ever gain control of a meshnet since every connected user is part of the infrastructure.

@brother @Moon Wait, scratch that. I didn't realize that flight companies would never be able to get away with this.

@brother @Moon It makes me wonder if there are enough boats and airplanes covering the globe at any given time that they can be used as nodes. HAM radio could be used for intercontinental communication but that is heavily regulated by the FCC.

@gunkslinger I stand by getting any definitions past 2014 is a mistake. Just look at the vandalism wikipedia's gotten on the gender page, night and day if you look at it via an archive

@gunkslinger@liberdon.com Remember when the WHO dropped "gender dysphoria" as a mental disorder and added "gaming addiction"?

@brother @Moon I'm not an expert on this, but I think long-range wi-fi routers could be enough to cover large gaps between certain meshes. There are a lot of wireless meshnets in urban areas we just need to find a way to connect them.

@brother @Moon
>The question shouldn't be how to politically delay it, but how to ensure the architecture cannot be compromised.

I think we're going to need an alternative to the physical infrastructure of the Internet entirely and not just some new protocol, alternate DNS root, or anonymity layer. I think a fully decentralized meshnet would be the best approach. All nodes are interconnected with no middle-men like ISPs or DNS servers. This would make it significantly harder for governments to start meddling with communication.

@Moon @brother P2P might also be outlawed outright. The government can just force all ISPs to block the protocols. Really, we are a few terrorist attacks away from having governments to start cracking down on this shit.

@brother I've long said that e2e is toast, I think we should fight for it as long as we can but it'll get outlawed eventually.

@Moon Don't worry, Biden will criminalise E2E in his second term anyway, right as the EU does 👏
