@lethe I don't think the FBI gives a fuck about that. Hell, people download ROMs all the time using they're bare ISP and they never get caught. But I think using a VPN (even a shitty one like RiseUp) for anything P2P is a good idea, otherwise you are exposing your IP address to every other peer on the network and torrenting through Tor isn't recommended.
@cee @coyote @p @Xalef Luckily, it was only brief and I never used it for anything shady. It was the only free VPN I knew of that ran entirely off of donations (there was also SigaVPN but it was shut down due to lack of donors). I only assume that they didn't collect any data because they never banned me for promoting anarcho-capitalism while using their VPN.
Either way, their VPN service sucks. The server is chosen at random and every single on of them is slow. Their client also lacks a killswitch, so if it disconnects, you risk leaking shit. And I really hate the constant donation reminder it gives you.
If you can't/don't want to pay for a VPN, just use Tor or I2P, preferably the latter since many nodes have been exposed as honeypots lately. I2P supposedly uses a P2P model which remedies this somewhat.
@ChristiJunior Why does every Nintendo game have to have some hidden racist, homophobic, transphobic lore in it?
@cee I know National Bolshevism is a real ideology, but I just see it being used to troll leftist communities like /leftypol/. I never see anyone take it seriously.
@deprecated_ii Remember when the World Economic Forum was "warning" about cyber-attacks being the next global crisis? This is all part of the plan.
@verita84 @ChristiJunior @deadheat @NEETzsche My point is that it's the government preventing it. I already mentioned that the government works with Big Tech. Decentralization is the only option. You just need to get your normie friends to use it.
@verita84 @ChristiJunior @deadheat @NEETzsche And it's THE GOVERNMENT that is going after crypto.
@NEETzsche @ChristiJunior @deadheat These companies work with the government on various surveillance programs. They will never regulate them. In fact most (if not all) of these companies were created by the government. Look up LifeLog, a DARPA project made to log the day to day life of individuals and it was cancelled the EXACT SAME DAY that Facebook launched.
Decentralization is the only option.
