@PurpCat It's not about gatekeeping new users, it's making sure that people who hate your community won't try to go out of there way to take it down, whether that is through deplatforming, DDoSing, hacking, or even getting the government involved.

@Rasterman It is mostly a redo of the Gab defederation campaign , and it's basically the same MastoCrew actors. They do not seem to realize that, just like Gab did, Threads.net is working on a walled garden with whitelist system i.e. the guys at Threads.net aren't seeing shit of what we are posting.

@OldM8 @Indigo I know that some flowers are edible but I don't know if I could stomach doing that.

Can someone PLEASE write a replacement for Paint.NET/Pinta that doesn't require .NET/Mono. I'm placing a $1000 dollar bounty (not really) for anyone who can do it.

@Dadbolgainz @Hoss @slugbert @laurel It doesn't matter if the state's existence is moral or not. It doesn't even matter what "take" is "intelligent". Morals involve how I treat people I know and the state is composed of people that are strangers to me. They only matter to the extent they are willing to attempt to stop me from doing what I plan to do.

Why do women like flowers so much? They are a terrible gift. They don't last long at all, are required to be put in a vase (if picked), can make a huge mess if you are not careful, and you are left with rotten ones after a few weeks or days.

I also don't see the point in planting flowers either. Plant something useful like fruits and vegetables, or herbs that you can use for natural medicine (some flowers can be used for that purpose, but I'm pretty sure they are not the pretty ones). Stop wasting your money, water, and space on plants that serve no practical purpose!

The reason why I can't write my own songs for my games is that my brain automatically thinks of an already existing song for a given situation. For example, I always associate underwater with the Dire Dire Docks theme from Super Mario 64.

But apparently, Koji Kondo actually suffers the same problem. Virtually every Zelda song is a rip-off of some existing song. Nearly the entire soundtrack of the first game along with the dark world theme in A Link to the Past rip hooks from "April" by Deep Purple, and "Zelda's Lullaby" is heavily influenced by Mort Garson - Concerto For Philodendron And Pothos.

Really, all you need to do is just heavily modify a song to the point that it is no longer copyright infringing and you got your song.

@lanodan I've always been more of a bus person. I like them better than trains or taxis. I've only been in a taxi once in my life.

>Publicly funded digital works should be released under an open licence

Here in the US, all works created by the government must be under the public domain, with a few exceptions. I don't think they are obligated to release any source code when it comes to programs, however.

>I couldn't care less about television except maybe opening up the channels a bit more and reducing censorship on them so you can actually have healthy political discourse.

Yeah. Imagine HAM Radio but for TV.

@lanodan Ban cars (I think civilians are restricted from driving), forced everyone to use Linux (they have RedStar OS), broadcast anti-American propaganda on TV.

@lanodan Maybe without the personality cult and the extreme xenophobia.

@lanodan You would've turned Japan into another North Korea.

@lanodan In Japan, your boss will prohibit you from riding your bike to work, if your job is extremely important to them.

Shigeru Miyamoto isn't allowed to ride his bike to work even though he isn't far from Nintendo HQ because God knows what would happen if he got into an accident.

@OldM8 Mr. Enter is actually more conservative than most other cartoon reviewers. It's one of the reasons why he is hated in the cartoon reviewer community. I'm actually surprised that he made this video.

@Indigo His husband/boyfriend even appeared in a Thanksgiving episode.

@Indigo The teacher was implied to be gay and was outright confirmed by the creator.

Okay, after thinking about it, the message could be interpreted that it is okay embrace both masculine and feminine traits. The "non-binary" character in question is part of a species that chooses what gender they are at 13. And it's just about the kids placing bets on what gender it will choose, and in the end it decided not to tell them what gender it choose because it got annoyed. It is an alien, so anything goes, but of course in $CURRENT_YEAR it would be interpreted as being about non-binary acceptance.

And yes, I'm well aware that Mr. Enter is one of the most hated cartoon reviewers on YouTube if not THE most hated. I just gained a little bit more respect for him in the past couple of years because he did make some videos criticizing wokeness in media.
