>Nintendo famously likes if you use their characters in their games if you're a third party dev and they approve of it.
Which is why I always argued that the Mother 4 team should've gotten official approval from Nintendo/Itoi instead of rebranding it into an original game. Itoi said that he would play a Mother 4 if someone else made it.
@Indigo I'm surprised that there has never been a Mario and Mickey Mouse crossover given that Miyamoto is a huge Disney fan and Nintendo is big enough to make a deal with them, but maybe Disney thinks that Kingdom Hearts is enough when it comes to video game crossovers.
@gabriel @djsumdog
I don't know what the future holds for Odysee now that LBRY is dead. It is the closest to a viable YouTube alternative, but it still uses a lot of JS from Google (though it's still viewable when disabled), and apparently the CEO claimed that they really don't care about free-speech and they might add stricter content policies once/if they get a sizable user base.
@gabriel I've heard that Rumble is actually the most privacy respecting video sharing site right now, not including decentralized networks like PeerTube, provided that you either block the third-party JS or watch the videos via MPV.
@Indigo I never played any of the games outside of a demo for one of the winter games on DS back when you can download DS demos through the Wii. I never saw it as a big deal. I was only three years old when the Dreamcast was discontinued and we never owned any Sega consoles, so seeing Mario and Sonic together like this didn't make a big impact for me.
Who even gave a shit about this franchise? Worst crossover ever.
@sun @coolboymew *servers federate
@sun I think more people should start packet analyzing games while the game is still live instead of waiting until the last minute. I feel like people don't start packet analyzing until it is almost too late. Case in point, the Nintendo Wi-Fi games weren't analyzed until mere months before the servers shut down.
@sun @coolboymew You could have the live services federate with each other and compare and copy each other's leaderboards, but it probably wouldn't be a perfect solution.
