@beardalaxy The Pleroma instance is at least. I think many of them don't even use the forums (at least not the lolcow subs). I like them better than most Poast (-adjacent) users. That's for sure.

I feel kind of scummy because many people bought the game and even tipped me, but couldn't play it because SFML seems to break compatibility whenever it wants. It's not my fault, but I feel like I at least owe them a working product.

@beardalaxy Hopefully this will bring back old-school (pre-2022) fedi culture, somewhat. KF users are surprisingly laid back.

I've been blowing off the Refractored Depths Windows port for a while, but fuck it. I'm going to port it to the latest version of SFML and then port it to Windows that way, Also, it gives other Linux users (non-Debian) a chance to play.

Since when did the KiwiFarms instance come back online?

@djsumdog It would probably be that mouse girl from Touhou.

@bonkmaykr@canithesis.org pointless complexity aside, the real problems are that this only works with debugging binaries and only if their symbols are in Visual Studio format, and Windows doesn't even remember where the loaded DLLs are from. allegedly. MSDN didn't exactly give me a single concise page or two explaining this. anyway, it can't print nameless addresses like glibc.

the entire point of getting a backtrace at runtime and not from your debugger directly, is to get information about a crash in a customer's stripped binary. this code is entirely useless for that purpose. i am sure there is another way to use CaptureStackBacktrace to get output similar to GNU's backtrace_symbols but it isn't documented anywhere I could find.

@gabriel I can imagine being the guy reading all those emails. I bet a huge chunk of them glow.

@djsumdog @hazlin @alcade @jeff I've heard rumors that in New Hampshire, they intentionally and silently blacklist libertarians from jury selection because many libertarians are well aware of the concept and they are doing everything they can to stop the Free State Project.

The whole jury system is rigged in a way that only stupid and ignorant people could ever be selected.

NEW PODCAST! 🎙💾📲

Independent technologist and writer Gabe of Libre Solutions Network discusses the dangers of AI and the erosion of human autonomy in a rapidly consolidating digital landscape. Gabe argues that modern AI is less about technological progress and more about a system of total domination that replaces human ingenuity with automated surveillance and corporate dependency. He examines how this shift affects labor, ethics, and cultural heritage, noting that the convenience of the cloud often comes at the cost of individual privacy and local control. Furthermore, the dialogue addresses transhumanist ideologies and the push for digital immortality, which he suggests may be used to justify the devaluation of physical human life. Ultimately, Gabe advocates for internet freedom and the rebuilding of human-centric systems to resist a future defined by technocratic feudalism. https://geopoliticsandempire.com/2026/05/11/gabe-ai-cyberspace-borg

Power generation idea for arctic settlement:

Some type of a (potentially hydrogen filled) kite that flies up into the atmosphere and is pulled by the wind.

Somehow it pulls more at certain times and less at others. Video shows it achieving this by doing figure-8s, but it could also be designed to have "flapping wings" which cause it to pull more at certain times and less at others, in a cycle.

Winch on the ground lets out line and takes it back, synchronizing with the cyclical loading of the kite, therefore generating net power.

Kite is relatively simple, so if it gets destroyed in a storm or freak incident, it's realistic to have spares on hand.

The cable is one of the most complex parts, but when it finally ages out and breaks, you lose the kite and launch another one with new cable.

Do you know of any projects, groups or communities that care about digital sustainability, keeping older computers working, maintaining legacy software, getting off the merry-go-round of continually needing to have the latest or just wanting to support the GNU fundamental freedom of being able to study and change a program in source code form? If so, please share links or info.
