Those aims mean that the DSA touches on several of the most contentious issues in the online world, such as the introduction of mandatory pan-European rules for tackling online hate speech and disinformation, and efforts to control platforms that are "gatekeepers" -- basically US companies like Google and Facebook. In other words, the DSA is going to be important, and not just for the EU. One of the key players in the drafting of the DSA is the European Parliament. The good news is that in a series of votes MEPs have made clear that they want protection for key human rights to be an integral part of the new law. The votes concerned reports from three of the Parliament's specialist committees: those for the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, Legal Affairs, and Civil Liberties (pdf). The three reports are couched in a rather impenetrable EU-speak; fortunately, the European Parliament has put out a press release on the votes that provides a more comprehensible summary of the three reports. The European Parliament is quite open about what the EU hopes to achieve with the DSA: "With the upcoming package, the European Union aims to shape the digital economy at EU level as well as setting the standards for the rest of the world, as it did with data protection." One of the priorities of the DSA is tackling illegal content online. On this, MEPs say:

@coolboymew @orekix @sathariel I've actually downloaded the zip archive of DJT and almost forgot all about it. I guess I could probably attempt to learn it. At least romanized Japanese makes sense.
@coolboymew @orekix @sathariel There are multiple dialects of Chinese though and from what I can tell, the tone of your voice also matters when speaking it. This is also another reason I gave up on it (at least for now) and I thought Latin was hard.
I don't know that much about Japanese. I think the hard part about that is the multiple writing systems and that from what I heard males and females are supposed to pronounce words differently.
I heard that Korean might be the easiest Asian language to learn as an English speaker. I've been considering learning that as I want to learn an Asian language.
@coolboymew @orekix @sathariel I tried learning Chinese. I got stuck just trying to understand Pinyin. What's the point of romanizing Chinese when you don't even do it phonetically?

@coolboymew Yeah. It was strange. The back of the VHS cover even said it was based on the hit game and had Nintendo in the credits. I could imagine some American kid trying to find that game after watching the show only to find nothing.

Make sure the #SnapStore doesn’t recreate the same problems as the Play Store.
Being forced to download snaps should be seen as a red flag. Freedom is being able to choose how you install your software.
Based on some posts I’ve seen, you should not be running any Masto or Fedi instance on Ubuntu. I have a feeling it could end badly and affect our resilience.
The worry revolves around IPFS, which has been touted as a solution to the constant takedowns of entire sites and their content. It becomes meaningless if it’s undermined at the OS level.
@coolboymew It is possible to mod a My Arcade cabinet and add more games, but I don't know if it could run Pac-Mania.
@coolboymew I will give them a little bit more credit if they added some of their variations of Pong that were in the later Pong consoles, but it still wouldn't be worth buying.
This is clearly them cashing in on the "handheld re-releases of old arcade/console games" fad you are seeing with stuff like those My Arcade mini-cabinets. And I rather buy those than some glossy, over-priced piece of shit that only plays a nearly 50 year old game.
I expect these will end up as prizes at places like Dave and Buster's.
@coolboymew Not to mention that Pong is the most cloned game in existence. Hell, the first graphical game I programmed was a Pong clone written in Python.
@coolboymew I don't know why Atari still thinks they're still relevant. Most people aren't even nostalgic for it anymore and their only successful consoles were the Atari 2600 and Pong.
