Planned obsolescence only gets you so far because once the patent expires then someone can invent a slight modification of it that doesn't break right away. So you get one (1) big grift per industry before people naturally catch on to said grift. The "new $700 phone every year" meme is petering out, for example, because they stopped making real improvements to the devices for years now. Who cares about the improved clock speed on the phone's CPU if all you're ultimately going to use it for is calling people, GPS, shopping, and sending text missives to each other? They can't even make a conspicuous consumption argument anymore because the new model looks damn near identical to the old one.
Grifters will always grift. But grifts have an expiration date. It's a cat and mouse game that will never really end. Right now, certain doctors are on the "cutting your dick off makes you a woman" tranny grift, but we all know that's not going to last. You get maybe one generation of people to really buy into that at most. Even with multibillion dollar international globohomo brainwashing campaigns, threatening people's jobs, threatening people's educations, threatening people's fucking lives, people are still in open defiance of this obvious horse shit. After people see the outcomes of the current tranny experiment they will eschew all variations on it for decades.
Then they'll just have to come up with a new grift.

@coolboymew They're also decompiling the original 2004 version which Nicalis doesn't even have the rights to.
@judgedread @ChristiJunior @rasterman It's not like these retards never used the Internet before the iPhone came out though. However, most of them only used it for taxes, trading stocks, and checking the weather. I think social media and video sharing sites showed them that there is a fun side to the Internet besides watching porn and pirating music.
Also, the iPhone didn't really become common place until around 2009-2010. Before that, it was a phone that most people wanted but couldn't have (it was originally only available with AT&T, at least in the US). Hell, when the iPhone first came out, it didn't even have downloadable apps, the defining feature of modern smartphones. It was just an over-glorified iPod that could make phone calls/texts and browse the web shit that even feature phones could do even at the time.
But from what I hear from most zoomers, the iPod Touch was their first personal internet device and allowed them to go on it without their parent's permission or supervision. I feel like this contributed to the influx of children on sites like 4chan around the same time. So, I think the iPod Touch did more damage to the internet even though it is essentially a poor man's iPhone.

Now every site is like that but with JavaScript and HTML5 instead of flash.
Saying that you are a dev while only knowing ActionScript or JavaScript is like saying you're a dev when you only know Microsoft Word with VB macros.
