Shit like that is nothing new. There was a GameSpot review of Legend of Dragoon for PS1 which misspelled Shana as "Shena" throughout the entire review and thought that the plot of the first disc was the plot of the entire game. And this was over 20 years ago.

Obviously kids could find a way in the past to access inappropriate stuff but I can't imagine a childhood in which all the media I'm exposed to exists within such an incredibly predatory and degenerate ecosystem.
