@ArdainianRight @ChristiJunior @rasterman Every libertarian take I make just gets me dogpiled by Poast these days. It was much better before Poast arrived.

@ArdainianRight America is too big to gatekeep anyway. It should've been a bunch of smaller countries or covenant communities.

@rasterman @ChristiJunior If I was just LARPing, I wouldn't do it on GameLiberty. I would do it on Poast, DRC, or any other instance that really hates libertarians. I'm actually well respected on GameLiberty. It's only you guys who hate my guts.

@linear I wasn't aware of Ladybird. I was aware of SerenityOS, but I didn't know that Andreas Kling was making his own browser as well. Though, I wish he would stop using GitHub, but there would probably be fewer devs if that was the case.

@linear Pressure the NetSurf devs to resume development.

Had a very vivid dream where I went to a little cafe in some big building because I noticed in the mini fridge they had "vanilla ice cream coke" which looked like this milk stuff that taste like a vanilla shake with a hint of coke, and it was in a regular shaped cole bottle, and now im so fucking mad its not real

@BrideOfLinux @amerika Anyone with a mask in their pfp, especially right now, should automatically have their opinions discarded.

@PurpCat @Corfiot Doesn't Discord still allow bots? Someone can make chat loggers and put them on the web. People do that with IRC all the time.

@Corfiot @PurpCat People don't realize that part of the reason why forums declined was that a lot of forums had the worse moderation while sites like Reddit, Digg, or the comment section of YouTube were much more lax at the time. Seriously, forums would immediately ban you just for using words that you can't say on American Daytime TV while sites like YouTube at the time could have you get away with words like "faggot". It was especially pointless as most forums required users to be at least 13 years old anyway.

There were also other bullshit policies like policies against necrobumping, which were pointless as topics do eventually become relevant again with new information. Or admins banning discussions that they *think* are illegal but are not. I remember a lot of gaming forums banning people for merely mentioning the existence of emulators (which aren't even illegal in of itself), not even asking or distributing ROMs. They didn't even mentioned downloading ROMs. They could've even dumped the ROMs themselves for all we know, but they still got banned.

Forums were able to get away with their abusive moderation because they are much smaller with the largest forums having around 10,000 or maybe even 100,000 active users at best. It's basically the same reason why Mastodon instances are able to enforce rules that are more strict than Jack Dorsey's Twitter.

I don't get why people are complaining about the influx of Twitter users when Poast is literally a bunch of Twitter refugees and have turned this place into a cringier version of /pol/.

@PurpCat Dwarf Fortress still holds their discussions on their own forums to this very day.

>couldn't make a main menu.

And I thought GameMaker Lite was bad (I think they didn't even let you have rotating sprites).

>These days the official devs give you an universal key to bypass the activation if i remember correctly.

That's nice of them, but I'd rather have them open-source it. There are much superior free (both in freedom and price) options out there now. The only reason people still use things like this is for nostalgia.

Retribution Engine seems like an open source alternative, but it seems like they haven't updated it in years (you could probably tell as they are still on SourceForge), and it's still Windows only for whatever reason.

Really if you want to make a FPS and target older platforms, just look into old-school FPS engines. iD Tech 1-4, Build, Doom are all open-source and/or have open-source replacements that are compatible with it.

I think I saw that before, over a decade ago, and never heard from it since. It was only a kid at the time, and that thing was paid, and my parents refused to pay for anything over the Internet. I was stuck messing around with the Lite version of GameMaker (before GameMaker: Studio was a thing).

@ArdainianRight @hachi @GabeLakmann @Jim @Some_German_Guy I remember him mostly posting queer fanart, but it seems like he stopped doing that in favor of hashtag spamming and trolling the thin-skinned.

@Some_German_Guy @hachi @GabeLakmann @Jim Lately he has been hashtag spamming, making rants about "trans genocide", and going after conservatives, centrists, and libertarians, saying that they are no better than Nazis.
