Windows users are victims to stockholm syndrome, I’d like to remind everyone the following list of features is not normal or necessary:
Updates take forever and use loads of resources.
PC needs to be rebooted after installing any software.
Random software needs full control of your PC to make sure you’re not doing anything you “shouldn’t be”.
An internet connection is required to play.
Your computer talks to you? Why?
An operating system is 30GB large.
Updates are mandatory.
Advertising, everywhere, constantly.
You pay for this?
Troubleshooting anything is a nightmare, shrouded in mystery and undocumented chaos.

@beardalaxy @coolboymew To me, it only becomes a problem when they start doing shit like doxing because they didn't like your opinion.
@coolboymew Same here. I would like everyone to embrace decentralization, but I don't know how it will turn out.
If things actually get bad, there are other protocols we could move to instead like twtxt.
@astheroth @waltercool Are you federated with mostr.pub (Nostr bridge for the fedi)?
Every time some petty dictator "shuts off" the internet in their country, it should remind us that we need another internet. Or dozens. Or millions.
The technology was designed to be redundant, but in our laziness, we have allowed gatekeepers and choke points to creep in - places where authoritarians can apply censorship.
The internet is the vehicle for our shared culture. It is far too important to let ANYONE access to an "off switch".
@p @louis@emacs.ch @Jojothegoodperson @thatguyoverthere Yeah, moving to a different country won't change things. Their parties are most likely controlled by the same shadow orgs that control ours. You are better off living in an unrecognized micronation or something like that. I do have a list of them on my website, but of course you should do your own research.

Though this is just a short-term band-aid solution. I only see hope when people start waking up en-masse and finally replace this current, global, oppressive system with a just and fair one. How will that be done? I don't know, but it's not going to be done through voting, that's for sure.
