This is more or less how I pick a language:
- Does it has good librairies for this use case? If not would it be easy enough to make the missing lib(s)?
- Does the way it's designed makes sense for this use case?
- Is it stable enough / widely available enough for the target systems?
- How much do I hate the guts of this language and it's ecosystem?

Shit like the syntax, choice of keywords, masturbatory-academic shit (ie. Haskell and Rust), … basically doesn't matters.
