@xianc78 I had a teacher who was an airforce pilot during Vietnam. Told us a story about how they saw a UFO, called it in over the radio, and it promptly got elevated to someone higher in command who told them to turn back and not speak about it ever again.
@mitchconner @marine @PurpCat @djsumdog @jeff @PNS @Flick I was on lots of different meds for depression and epilepsy throughout high school and they fucked me up hardcore. The therapy I had while on them was ass. Took a couple years after stopping taking them to feel normal again. Those high school years feel like a completely different person lived them, like I watched someone else's memories. It's really weird.
My best friend got his degree in pharmacology last year and has already quit. Says he hates the culture and doesn't want to be complicit in fucking people over because he's seen it happen in real time. I hope one day we look back on all of this and see what a monstrous machine it was.
Aliens / space travel
A common argument against aliens visiting earth is that travel between stars is impossible because of the long distance and speed of light barrier
This argument is fallacious. We have no idea whether faster than light travel is impossible, or whether or not there is some way to circumvent space thru wormholes or something like that. We simply do not know how it could be possible
I'm not saying it IS possible, I'm saying we dont know either way
If you're up on modern physics you know that our current knowledge of how the universe works is extremely limited, we really have no idea what Black Holes are or how they work, we dont know how subatomic particles work, I think there's something like 11 competing theories of physics right now that seek to explain them and none of them are faring well against ongoing research
Again I'm not saying aliens do or could visit earth, but dogmatically saying its impossible is not "skeptical" but a dogmatic position following from faulty assumptions. An older an more technologically advanced species may well have figured these things out
I know its a long shot, frens, fedi and NAS family, but I have to ask for a few thoughts in my direction. Been attempting to purchase a house that I can support my family in through thick and thin in the new normal we seem to be living in. 170 acres, nice house n sheds, cattle yards and ramps and enough water and grass for anything the future may hold. A dream future for us all.
Spare me a though if you may. Will post pics of my hoped for future success. Cheers
