@silverpill @sendpaws We can thank DeVault for mainstreaming his hit list idea years ago. But there's a very large positive fact to this whole thing, people making these lists and supporting the list makers very likely barely leave their home.

@sendpaws Seeing a lot of this lately. People are making lists, etc. How long before they actually start killing FOSS maintainers for wrong opinions?

@xianc78 this is just a list of people he's assblasted about

I really wanna get into my gamedev stuff again and do some creativity there and maybe release some games but it's intimidating

I find Drew list and supporters to be very ironic, a lot of them are complaining about RMS sexual exploitation of minors while supporting Drew who also said the same but with different words

Honestly, if Drew DeVault made a list of people/organizations who genuinely pose a threat to FOSS (e.g scams/grifters like Mozilla, Cannonical, RedHat, Purism, etc), I would have no problem with that, but no. He had to make a list about people who said <insert even remotely RW idea here>.

I remember the days when the number one way to trigger a FOSS dev was to call the movement "marxist"/"communist", but it seems like some have unironically embraced this accusation and will cancel anyone who says otherwise.

that's new ... he just keeps adding more people who are superior to him in every way to his list. What a jealous little failed man.

Imagine thinking that the incompetent email server maintainer is somehow a threat to FOSS.

DHH successfully getting people to quit SaaS companies by simply existing vs. entirely bodies of work of FOSS folk trying to tell you that you're in an abusive relationship is fucking hilarious to me

To prove that Flock cameras are safe and won't be abused, we should start by having one follow around every member of Congress

I'm sick of these Europoor retro gamers gushing about their love and nostalgia for games on platforms like the ZX Spectrum, BBC Micro, and Amiga. Constantly, bragging about growing up with true hidden gems and how they had it better than American (and Japanese) gamers.

No. The games you grew up with are fucking shit. I'm sorry. There may have been a few hidden gems, but nobody outside of 50 hertz-land is nostalgic for single screen puzzle platformers for computers that can only display single color sprites and make far noises.

There is a good reason why American gamers are into Japanese imports instead of European imports. Japanese games still have a pick-up and play mentality (outside of tactical-RPGs). Retro-European games have an anything goes mentality. That's why they're nostalgic for unique and complex shit like Lemmings and Populous, or it's just some shovelware platformer/adventure game hybrid because "we have no idea what we are doing".

The idea that they think Americans would be envious of them just baffles me.

I wonder what 8/tech/ would think about the current state of FOSS.

We're aware of claims spread on German social media about GrapheneOS being exploited. We looked into it in case there was substance behind it. OS and hardware security isn't actually much of a factor in the story. Instead, the central claim is disk encryption with a strong passphrase can be cracked.
