for people looking to roll their own fediverse instance (pleroma, mastodong, misskey etc) don't forget there is an open registry of domains that provide free subdomains (for example fedi.strangled.net) that is free to use. if you are going to pick one from this list of nearly 550 pages, make sure to choose one thats older than say, a year otherwise it may disappear
