This Hyprland situation is just another reason why I fucking hate all this drama when it comes to FOSS projects. It's always due to bullshit reasons and it either kills a project or significantly hurts a project.

From what I can tell, the Hyprland community is mostly tame. They do engage in edgy humor but there is nothing wrong with that. It doesn't seem like Vaxry was using slurs or posting anything bigoted. And according to a podcast, he does ban people who are truly problematic.

But no, you had to use your janny powers to ban someone from FDO because they're lax when it comes to community moderation.

Though this situation is pretty mild compared to similar events, but this kind of behavior does eventually lead to the more extreme scenarios, such as complaining about "casual ableist language" (using words like "dumb" or "crazy"), throwing a hissy fit because a project is accepting crypto donations, or the PM rejecting someone's proposed BLM splash screen when the program starts up.

It is morally okay to slaughter dogs for meat or leather. Non-human animals have no rights whatsoever. The whole "dogs are smart" argument is bullshit. Especially when you take into account that pigs are smarter than dogs yet nobody, except for vegetarians and vegans bats an eye when they are used for meat consumption. Also pigs are sometimes used as pets and pet pig owners literally don't care that other pigs are being eaten.
