@xianc78 yeah I get it, it's better to actually promote sane people engaging with the hobby than to abandon it, declare it untouchable and say anyone who likes it is a troon. In the end there wouldn't be any hobbies left if we did that with everything.

I really hate how liking a hobby that has been overrun by a certain demographic or people of a certain ideology means that you are probably of said demographic or ideology.

Like it gets really annoying that people will call you a tranny for being in to something like ROM hacking or installing Arch Linux on microwave ovens. Let me enjoy what I fucking enjoy. I'm in to that stuff and cutting my dick off has never crossed my mind.

I think I'm slowly getting the hand of SDL. Going back and forth between C and C++ style syntax is something I need to get used to, but my experience has been mostly pleasant so far.

Note: this is not a game I plan on releasing. This is just me messing with spritesheets.

The current machines can never be AGI. They're just weighted random next token generators. They have no ability to goalset, and I doubt anyone would be able to construct such a system with current LLMs.

They're also wrong a lot, at least with coding. Or even when they're "right," I'm still going to go back and refactor it so it's maintainable and remove half the garbage it adds.

There's also nothing left to train with, since everything new is slop. I think the plateau was reached a few months back and we're just going to get diminishing returns.

The chatbots will continue to be used, but more as an oracle control mechanism for people who refuse to think.
