This instance/experiment has run its course and after some backups I will move back to my old account @xyfdi and make the life of @matrix miserable again. 😛

I will leave this instance running for the next few months after which I will repurpose it for my flightsim stuff (maybe).

Setting up a Pleroma instance is easy. Debugging it so it actually works is something completely else... (And I have NFC how to peer with other instances in the Fediverse 🤷‍♂️ )

I got invited to a local political forum a couple of years ago, but recently took the time to create an account using a non-descript username on one of my alternate email addresses and started discussing on topics....

I was new to the forum an did my odd mix of anon imageboard, SA/KF style way how I discuss topics. Lots of generalisations, citing sources and due to a lack of sleep my autistic autopilot took over that went in full discussion mode, everything that could be addressed got addressed. Different opinion on something? Fine, that's ok. Started defending the validity of my sources, started to demand theirs. I was honest about my intent, marked things as iffy if I thought it was bordering on something iffy ( and I still got shit despite being transparent. )

So at the end of the day it was apparent that my approach of discussing topics didn't fit with the regulars on the forum, its culture and there is a disconnect between them and me. They all have assumptions about my intent and I am labeled as a far-right extremist or something ( I see myself more like an edgy hippie libertarian with centrist leanings) and got accusations of framing and dog-whistle thrown at me.

It was glorious, will do the same again tomorrow! 🙂

Guess I will be coding in the Unity Engine from now on... 😕

Somebody used a racial slur on Reddit. I reported the post and called the man a racist freak and suggested he should go to Gab.

This is going to cost my Reddit account. 🤷🏻‍♂️

There is a plethora of chat and conferencing applications. Some proprietary, some open source, some self-hosted, some not. And all these different projects do their own thing really well (or good enough), but have almost zero integration with each other.

This is spurred by my recent searches for an open-source, self-hosted Discord alternative. While I think Discord is great and does a lot of things good, the proprietary aspect and who funded it (TenCent) bothers me. Lookig for a replacement you ended up with services like Mumble, which is a teamspeak-clone, but does Voice just fine! Jitsi does an excellent job streaming and then there are like dozens of chat application that do chat. And there is nothing that really works well with gaming.

I am not sure what to do.. And I am afraid of being number 15 here.. (Ref: imgs.xkcd.com/comics/standards )

mobile.twitter.com/Le_Figaro/s Slavery abolitionist's statue gets trashed. The guy who spent his wealth and influence to abolish slavery in all the French colonies got his statues trashed. WTF!?

I wish I had the time to write a chess-bot for the FediVerse. I have the idea, how to implement it and the libraries that go with it. Just need to find the time between work, gaming with friends and fuckbuddies. 😔

I am considering setting up a Dutch ArmA 3 clan again that isn't full-retard MILSIM clan like the rest of the clans or the one I have left behind.

Dating has never been so great thanks to two months of lockdown. 🙂

Attempt number 1 installing : installation guides on the site giving different approaches that mix in no meaningful way.

I took the first guide on the site, executed the Ubuntu installation instructions, grinded to a halt due to missing libraries. Discovered Ubuntu specific installation instructions that where completely different.

Running Ubuntu 20 didn't really help. So I'll try again tomorrow. :-)
