Also, they showed a 10fps streams in their demo.
The 10 FPS is their BEST CASE. They literally thought, that it was in an advertisement ready state.
@LukeAlmighty The new joy-cons lack the IR sensor that was present in the OG Switch's right joy-con.
@xianc78
Thanks
I didn't even know about that feature.
@special-boy @LukeAlmighty I think 1 2 Switch and a few Labo games. It's designed to detect hand gestures.
@LukeAlmighty yeah it's hard to make everything completely compatible on new architecture. Most games will run just fine, but some might depend on some weird intricacy of the original hardware that they might not have even known about so it messes with some little feature. This is how games have been under BC forever, even when the hardware or parts of the old hardware were implemented into the new one.
@LukeAlmighty gaming phone, it can emulate like 2010 x86 games quite well + basically every console
What you are asking for though is probably impossible currently if you want it usable and with more than 5 minutes of battery life
@matrix
But my phone is smaller volume-wise then Gameboy advanced SP. Nah, I think that part would actually be fine. (Especially, since I do want it to be relatively weak)
I know, that the main issue would be the expectation of modern 2 stick gamepad though.
@LukeAlmighty @matrix psvita was able to do it easily
@matrix
Why cannot they hide the sticks in any way
Well, I guess that is one. Thank you
@LukeAlmighty
GPD is the company that started this x86 handheld trend.
I showed the Win 4 because it's the most pocketable, but yeah, the clamshell is better for durability (unless your younger cousin breaks the hinge lol, rip my nds).
But the Mini follows the same trend as every other device. It's called Mini but is actually bigger than it's predecessors. Win 1 and 2 were smaller.
I think the problem with making a small handheld is that it's going to be objectively worse at everything. Battery life, thermals, performerce, button feel etc.
@LukeAlmighty
>They made it bigger
I've heard people argue before, and I didn't quite believe it, but I'm starting to. Gaming is not for children anymore. They're not focusing on making games or consoles for children. The entire market is focusing solely on adults.
Kids can cope with a smaller screen because they're holding it closer to their face anyway, since they're, you know, small kids. But adults need bigger screens, bigger surfaces to grasp, etc.
@alyx
Yeah, I kinda agree.
On one hand, kiddies have to play on phone, since bringing a laptop with you everywhere is seriously annoying. (Trust me, I fought authorities for quite a long time for it :D)
But, GBA SP was literally perfection, because I could just have it on me without any problem. And as we just debated lower on the thread, there really is (almost) no alternative these days. So, it's not like they have a choice.
@alyx
Also, adults have so much more money, so I don't blame the execs for focusing on that market. Hell, only last year, mobile devs finally found out, that horny gamer girls exist
They made it bigger:
Does aanyone have the Pippa clip about pocket gaming being dead because of this shit?
