Yeah, it's scary to see how fast had the world changed.

My parents had me in the middle of the "Drug your kids" wave, so now, decade later, I had to have a talk with them about it.
I can forgive my dad. He was doing what he was told by the expert. But my mom still didn't get out of that phase.

I guess all I want to say is, that it's the most important thing you can have to have a full trust to talk about your problems between a parent and a child. Who would have thought...

@mcneely

Hey welcome to the fediverse (we call it the fedi). A couple things,

Mastodon is just a software suite that utilizes what is known as the ActivityPub protocol.

There are other microblogging software suites that can interact with Mastodon as well, like Pleroma, Soapbox, Akkoma, Fedibird, Honk, GNU Social, to name a few. Some work as backends, others as frontends, some as both.

There are also other tools that can interact with this protocol, like Write Freely for blogging, Peertube for video sharing and streaming, Funkwhale for music streaming, etc. These all can be run as independent servers, but can still talk to (federate) with the known network.

Also a big point of contention here is federation. While some seek to defederate and form their own little echo chambers, I am of the camp that believes we should all federate regardless of our beliefs and opinions so that there is more open discourse and dialog and less echo chambers. Of course if you need to, there are tools on mastodon and others to help you moderate your timelines and filter content.

Plus I'll include this meme I made, cheers m8 and welcome!
Just a reminder from this young south African woman that no matter how far you run away , you and your children will have to face the implications of multiculturalism , every last one of you .

No, they look like they have sex characteristics.

I wanted to post some trees that also look like they had boobs, but I think it's not needed for the point to be understood.

I will trust you on the localization.
Is she a princess of the Mushroom Kingdom then?

This will literally ruin your life

@matana @beardalaxy
Her full name is Princess Peach Toadstool

This will literally ruin your life

@beardalaxy @matana
Princess Peach is a mushroom. She has no overies. She is spreading spores.

I went to see a psychiatrist once, and after about 10 minutes, I realized, that she was insane.

I don't mean "the stereotypical", but the fact, that she believed in tabula rassa, and mentioned several esotery books.

So, yeah... I am starting to understand, why so many women stay in therapy for decates.

@WashedOutGundamPilot @sparky @cyberanathema @LukeAlmighty @matana @matrix I member when we had sex ed in fifth grade
i felt like the whole point of sex ed was to sell SEX TO KIDS rather than teach them about "safety" and "sexual consent"

i still think sex ed should be nuked wholesale and just return to mom and dad talking about their sons/daughters about the birds and the bees

fucking lazy ass faggot parents being too lazy to parent is what caused this entire generation of coomers and whores

The thing about Twitter is that it really lacks a lot of the features you'd expect from a true Mastodon replacement.

For example, there's no way to edit your toots (which they, confusingly call "tweets"—let's face it, it's a bit of a silly name that's difficult to take seriously).

"Tweets" can't be covered by a content warning. There's no way to let the poster know you like their tweet without also sharing it, and no bookmark feature.

There's no way to set up your own instance, and you're basically stuck on a single instance of Twitter. That means there's no community moderators you can reach out to to quickly resolve issues. Also, you can't de-federate instances with a lot of problematic content.

It also doesn't Integrate with other fediverse platforms, and I couldn't find the option to turn the ads off.

Really, Twitter has made a good start, but it will need to add a lot of additional features before it gets to the point where it becomes a true Mastodon replacement for most users.

When looking at Sonic Frontiers, I am still not sure, if I hate more the popin, or the air rails that ARE visible in the distance.
