Of course I will defend her, when her oposition is a girl with a grand total of 1/3 pf a single facial expression.

I cannot believe, that they cut that last scene exactly before the most painful line ![]()

> that this is Uncle Iroh respecter neighborhood, too
Sometimes, I wonder who do you think you're speaking to... Of course everyone with even slightest bit of taste has to respect the guy.
> but Toph is the coolest, most memorable
> and got really fucked up by Whorra, too
Well, I didn't see much of that show.
I’m not even totally opposed to the message, some of that advertising was way, WAY more cringe than it was enjoyable. I particularly dislike the modern trend of ugly brown women being shoved down our throats.
BUT these guys snap me out of that with their faggy “uh actually women can be SUPER badass and do anything men can - “
Shut up you boomernig, women aren’t ‘kickass’, praising them when they do a mediocre imitation of a man dishonors true excellence in womanhood. I really hate this shit, because men like this program their daughters to play dress-up and imitate the douchebag jocks from media as if that’s what a strong woman is.
Strength in womanhood is maternal, it’s unyielding in her efforts to protect and nurture her family. It’s NOTHING like this shit about how girls can shoot 3-gun just as good as the boys can, to even hint they’re similar in value is revolting to me.

Either way, Avatar had every single version of the mentor character possible, including a mentor who's skill is completely gone, Insane mentor and a mentor who will burn your fucking face off....
So, I don't consider age to be a factor, especially if the mentor is in fact fully capable to tech, and on top of her game.
@matana @ChristiJunior
I mean it.
I sent that response BEFORE I realized the connection

*no pun intended
@matana @ChristiJunior
Sorry, I don't see it.
@matana @ChristiJunior
I don't think making the mentor sexy counts as a subversion though.
I had an interesting conversation with Sis about Lovecraftian horror
More importantly, about why it fails so monumentally in modern movies. And, after a while, we have reached the conclusion, that the element of it being beyond your understanding is completely undermined if you know the hero is safe.
While in normal capeshit, even if you know the hero is going to win, you can imagine scenarios of how its going to happen. You can feel every hit he recieves or gives. There is a story there.
But, if the enemy beyond your comprehension, then story turns to "hero did ....something???? and won
" So, there is literally no substance left for you to enjoy.

I just love the "oh shit, they were right" phase, that sometimes comes 10 years later.

*10k drone.... If it was an actual missile drone.
Half of them could have been without payload, and noone could tell the difference.
