Amateur astronomer was able to photograph Mars showing blue as it moves into retrograde. It will be closest to Earth on Dec. 1st at 0.545 AU, with a Lunar occultation of Mars on Dec. 7th. It should be easily sightable in the night sky, doubling in brightness between now and then.
