Something to keep in mind that Amazon may or may not use that I know for a fact other companies use (I work in Marketing) Is a consumer score.
Lots of companies will score their clients based on how they interact. Customers that are nice and willing to take more cost tend to get fewer 'concessionary handouts'.
It may sound mean, but a good method is to always come off indifferent or slightly negative in your communication to help keep your score in a good spot.
