@hideki It looks way cleaner now. Though the top needs some work as you lost some volume up there at the top where the strains should meet. As a result the silhouette looks slightly different now.

@hideki Truth is that I do not actually remember why. It's been too long ago. I would assume it was too many steps for such a simple result and nobody else uses this workflow. Don't get me wrong, what he does is usually mindblowing but then also impractical. Let me know if you do it anyways. :feels:

@hideki Just a word of advice... if by chance you talk about the method "aVersionOfReality" put out a year or longer ago... just don't do it. It's not worth it. Otherwise go ahead and see what works best.

@hideki While we are on the subject again, when I have more time again I want to study this guys workflow because he knows what he's doing.

@hideki This can be countered a little bit by having an extra control point before the end of the curve. You may only adjust it when you change hair directions. Also CTR + T is your friend to rotate multiple points at once. I found it sometimes helped to just reset the rotation back to zero before doing this. It's still a bit fiddly. I think Dikko explains this too in his tutorials.

Another method I saw people do is just blocking out the patch of hair they want to do as a plane and then just start extruding the strains they want before sort of bending everything in place with the proportional editing tool.

Long story short: I'm still not good at it myself but good reference and understanding how to layer hair seemed more useful to me than the methods itself. I end up using too many small strains instead of covering up large patches at once.

@hideki Not going to lie, twitter actually recommended me your tweet "based on your likes". Catched me by supprise a little. :monkaRun:

@hideki It is normal to feel that way. A lot was said already that remains true. I mean, 3D is a time sink and I have to keep reminding myself that the results are mostly "smoke and mirrors". A lot of sculpts are just sculpts, they are not rigged and ready to animate. Also many good looking things are just fake and forgery like Ian Hubert does. It just has to work in the end.

Also you can not really know what the people like. Sometimes you do something quick and you think it's mediocre but then it get's hyped. Other times you spend a lot of time on small details but nobody cares. It's frustrating to promote original ideas, because nobody searches, finds or cares about them. A lot of people just tie their art to a popular franchise like ... Star Wars or a current hype to may get viral. Also a lot of detail in art is not even understood. Recently I saw a drawing with a now demolished building in the background. Only the artist and a few dozen people know the intention etc. In the end you must be happy with what you create but looking back at old renders will always mean that you see things you might do different now but that's actually good because it means you now made some sort of progress.

Impostor syndrome is also very bad. When you think you are just stealing other ideas and do not create original content. But then again everyone is copying from irl references and get inspired by art they like and it is just normal. Everyone is stealing from each other - it's just getting away with it. It's like someone posts a render of a donut or anvil and you know that they followed a tutorial etc. most people do not. The normies are just "wow, that's awesome!!1" but the other artists shun you secretly, lol.

It's crazy how many art people do is just rotting in a folder and is never posted or shared because it's deemed bad and unworthy. I have so many abandoned little projects in Blender, it's actually fucked up. Finishing anything at all still is very difficult for me. I have used Blender for a few years but have very few things to share that are finished because I just end up doing things deemed "too complex" for me. I don't want a fucking low poly animation or character, I expect more of myself. Something more professional but then reality just hits hard and I'm feeling down, just like you. It goes away eventually and I just continue because it's the only skill I have developed so I feel I can't abandon it anymore if I want to be creative in some form way or shape.

@hideki A while ago these Ghibli style tutorials were popular don't know if you can take any inspiration from that:

@hideki What brand is that PSU? I only buy Seasonic. My PC is also plugged into pic. related - just in case. Even though the breaker box is modern.

@alyx I'd humbly claim that nobody even gives this any thought because they literally do not care and only want to deliver some punch. That line became a meme anyways and it's just still hitting hard so: Never change a running system.

Me when trying to avoid conversations about sex and romantic relationships.

@LukeAlmighty That's very subjective. I can only speak from my own experience. When I was in school I had to make a choice. Either I could hang out with a nerdy autistic guy who sat on the floor flicking mangas or go outside and just have a fucking cigarette in a solitary fashion. I chose to just go outside and do my own thing. I ended up with a few stoners who were mostly treating me like a normal person. So yeah, I'm just saying that you have to find your own ways to deal with the social situations and get away from the turbo normies are just too much to handle. You wont get comfortable by just pretending to be someone else.

It's okay to be alone sometimes but doing things your way also means you might only get approached by people who show an interest in talking to you (if that happens) so it saves you the trouble to figure out if someone is interested in getting to know you.

In the end you are just stuck there with other people who are also there for a few years before they move on and never see each other ever again.

@LukeAlmighty Just stay true to yourself. I figured out they just want someone that listens to them anyways. I doubt you feel attached to them but at the end of the day we all want to socialize somehow.
