@matrix Do we even have the official reason?
@beardalaxy @coded_artist @LukeAlmighty
The way I see it, the "muh graphical fidelity makes it too hard" is a cheap cope out. Games were pushing GPUs to their limits decades ago too. Nothing changed in that respect. But that didn't stop devs from doing things right.
And ultimately you can't claim that you're working for increased graphical fidelity when you put in dithering in your games, that distracts the player, and looks far worse in the game than if you were to reduce model complexity and texture sizes a bit. It's a self contradicting statement.
@icedquinn
>rusted aluminum can
Ok, I definitely have autism, cause this bothered me. Aluminium doesn't rust. Iron does.
@icedquinn I mean... at some point you'll probably have to kill enough of the military too, but yeah... I guess that's true. Kinda.
@theorytoe
Excuse me! It's "please kill yourself fucking nigger". And did you even say thank you once?!
@a1ba ^Clearly a lie. You sir are fake news!
@coded_artist @LukeAlmighty
So basically, instead of doing hard coding work to make the engine do things properly, they just take the lazy route. Cause essentially what I'm getting here is that getting things to be transparent correctly, while keeping something like front rendering optimizations, is more complicated to do. So why bother with the hassle, if it can be half-assessed?
Again, what perplexes me is that this can't possibly be some hidden, esoteric knowledge. We had transparent things before. If coding from scratch is too hard, why not just borrow code from older titles or older engines?! Just reuse what you knew how to do from a decade ago.
@JohnGritt Considering the actual Nazis are long dead, it's kinda hard to compare the trauma my children would receive between being exposed to a rotting skeleton or modern trans people. Both are potentially nightmare inducing. Both can scar a child for life. Hard to decide. Except if it's on Halloween. If it's babysitting on Halloween, the Nazi skeletons for sure.
@r000t Nice try.
@LukeAlmighty Real talk, can someone explain to me why the hell did dithering reappear in modern AAA games? We used to have real transparency and fading effects. Why?!
@LukeAlmighty I didn't pay much attention to Wilds. Saw a few screenshots from you, but it didn't really hit me until I saw proper footage. It reminded me of Fallout New Vegas, and not in a good way. Though, if I were to make a side by side comparison, I bet New Vegas would still look better.
I like how older MH titles look, and I always though "maybe I'll play one of these games some day, cause it looks fun". But Wilds instantly made me "nope". I'm at "maybe I'll play one of the older games someday, but not Wilds".
@TitoTill
Fascism. I had a bit of thought about all of Europe recently. From UK, Germany, probably France too, we're seeing the 21st century fascist movement taking shape. They may call themselves "anti-fascist", but North Korea also calls itself "democratic".
@LukeAlmighty I haven't played the series, but I've seen clips of Wilds and older titles from streamers. And Wilds looks horrible by comparison.
I think part of it might be that the previous games weren't afraid of vibrant colors, while Wilds looks like it reverted to 2006-2008 post-processing filters, a time when every game had a sickly brown color added to it.
Another part of it is probably the stupid TXAA used in everything now. Wilds looks blurry, previous titles looked sharp.
@matrix Why do you curse me so? And yes, either Hassan, or Destiny, or some other breadtuber, probably fucked her.
@js @LukeAlmighty
^This. Film the entire table with a high res camera, and use software to track and crop only the dice. It's even probably easier to do than a realistic looking CGI.
@IcyGrillz
I believe that would be called a nightmare. And it could mean one of two things.
Either
1) you are genuinely so weak, that misgendering actually does traumatize you to the extent where you have consistent nightmares about it.
or, and she's not gonna like this,
2) your subconscious brain is trying to tell you something.
@a1ba Why do we all have to wear these ridiculous ties?
@LukeAlmighty Oh, I bet. Good for me that I don't use Twitter.
