Oh, and there's a possibility for the entire thing to backfire hard.

You see, over here the president doesn't actually have that much power. He assigns the prime minister from what the parliament offers up, and has some power (though not all) when dealing with external politics. But otherwise, internally, the president can't really do anything. So Călin Georgescu as a president wouldn't have been all that dangerous, even if he really was the supreme fascist whatever.

So here's where the issue starts. Currently leading the polls is another gentleman, George Simion, who has the support and blessing of Călin Georgescu. If he wins, while it wouldn't be politically easy to accomplish, there's a possibility he could make Călin Georgescu the prime minister, thus giving him more power than he would have had as president.

Now imagine the outcry from EU if that were to happen.

@Tadano @djsumdog @wackJackle
The situation is kinda sad to be honest. We have 2 candidates that were denied the right to run for office, because they've said things that were interpreted as being anti-EU or anti-NATO. No, I'm not joking.

As for the cancelled elections, that was done because of supposed Russian meddling. Problem is, while there are signs and evidence of campaign fraud done by/for the guy at the center of the controversy (Călin Georgescu), there's not enough to account for the amount of votes he got. Basically, as it stands, there is no reason to believe he couldn't have gotten to the second round of elections, with or without these campaign crimes. So I don't know if interrupting the process was actually justified. Oh, and the Russian involvement wasn't proven so far either.
Basically, if you've heard JD Vance talk on the issue, he was 100% correct.

The only upside I guess is that the guy that triggered this reaction, Călin Georgescu, was found to have actually said some praise towards some local fascist figures from back around WW2, so it's not the worst thing that he won't be president. The guy was trouble, and pretty much a moron from what I've heard of him speak.

But it doesn't actually change the fact that the way he was removed is dubious as fuck, undemocratic, and likely was ordered by someone up in EU. Or in other words, in a fascistic manner. Which is ironic, considering he was the one being accused of praising fascists.

@vaartis I had no idea. Thanks! A Download All button would have been cool to have, but I might still take the time someday to download at least some of my saves.

Ultimately it's all gonna take time. Right now, I doubt most manufacturers think this will be the new status-quo. Most probably think Trump is bluffing, so no US factory is gonna suddenly increase their output, and other companies aren't planning yet on moving factories back to US.

I personally just hope that, over here in EU, our politicians grow a fucking pair for once in their life, and learn to actually do some diplomacy with Trump, if they actually want to trade with US. And trust me, they absolutely, desperately do.

As American media is gaslighting on how disastrous this is to the American economy, and how Americans will be the most hurt in all of this, European media is panicking over how this will ruin us. Even my country, that I'm pretty sure barely exports anything to US, is trying to cope that we shouldn't be affected all the while desperately trying to find someone who'd be competent and capable to negotiate with Trump's administration. My government basically made an open call for any Romanians who had contact with the Republican party, to try to pull some strings.

@mushroom_soup huh... I wonder how the cancer would smell like.

Truer words have never been said.

Dennis The Menace died... we are finally safe from his terror... George can finally rest and relax.

Wait... so you're basically like those feminist political lesbians, but for men instead. lol. You're the gayest man I've ever encountered. In all meanings of the word.

@matrix No, they're not. From what I hear, their last hope,the Reform party, is pretty much a scam at this point. And it's weird to see them like this, since they had the best hope for a recovery, since they left EU and at least had the power to actually control their nation. But I guess their politicians decided to sabotage the country out of spite (cause I honestly can't come out with any other reason why things have went downhill so hard). And the British people seem to be too polite for their own good.
I mean for fucks sake, their judicial system literally came out openly setting a policy for judges to follow, that they must give lenient sentences to ethnic minorities and fuck up the native population, and nothing happened.

I'm not watching the movie, for obvious reasons, but I watched 2 first impressions reviews of the movie, and both made it pretty clear that the DMV lady was completely useless to the plot. And one of these was from a Minecraft channel that really tried to give the movie a positive review. So of course she was bored. She was there to fill up space.

Isn't there a town in India or something where they LITERALLY fling cow shit at each other as part of some weird festival they have?

My grandmother (when she was alive and somewhat healthy) used to take care of a small garden + a few farm animals (in the city of all things, cause we be like that sometimes). Anyway, when I was little, I stayed with her for a while, and I'm well familiar with how hard she worked to grow some vegetables, a pig and some chickens. It was basically a 6am to 9pm workday. For a tiny plot of land.
Also, there's no such thing as "doesn't have to do anything for half a year". At best you have the months of winter. Because you still have to till the land, and fertilize it, and whatnot. There's plenty of preparation to be done before and after you have your crop.

So yeah... your roommate was clueless. It might be a bit easier these days to be a farmer, with things like tractors and all that, but in the middle ages?... Your roommate had no idea.

@LukeAlmighty Thing is... as bad as things are today, someone from medieval time would think living anywhere in Europe today would be epic.
We've lost perspective of how much life has improved because of technology, and I'd wager it makes sense in universe that people in Cyberpunk consider it a dystopia, because they also lost perspective on things and focus only on their present day issues.

I had a sobering though a year ago. Back during the days of Mozart or Beethoven, these people weren't composing music for the wider audience. Entertainment was a thing solely for the rich. But today, a homeless person in America can listen to any music he wants on a pocket sized computer.
Or Tim Pool likes to make the argument that the original oil baron had worse dental care than an average american has today.

People are free to complain about wealth inequalities, but they should also take a second and appreciate that they probably have access to the same, if not more, life amenities than the richest of the rich from not that long ago. That is bonkers to me.

So yeah, any realistic fiction set in a much more technologically advanced future, is gonna have some of the things we care about solved thanks to technology, while also introducing new unique problems that make it a dystopia.
I haven't played the game, but my understanding was that the dystopic element was some kind of augmentation psychosis and people losing their humanity.

The skin color argument is so fucking stupid. I've seen gypsies with darker skin color than Obama, but we don't suddenly stop calling Barack black.

Though the word is technically misused, race is a thing, yes. But there are multiple traits and multiple genes that go into it, not just fucking skin color. Fuentes simps are just coping over the fact that they're somehow trying to build a white supremacist movement around a latino boy of all things.

This is why, out of all the conspiracy theories I've heard over the years, the possibility that Nick Fuentes is some glowie psyop seems most likely.

@hachi @LukeAlmighty
Gender is a lie. The word you're looking for is "personality". You can have a feminine personality as a male, and want to wear dresses and makeup and whatever, and you'd have my full support.

@LukeAlmighty Does anyone have freedom under trans ideology?
