researching how to help get my sleep corrected and everything is just "take this drug"
:CirnoForReals:

@beardalaxy :blobcatwaitwhat2: how much do you actually need to be awake on time
@beardalaxy that's your problem then you need to pick up a few social obligations that make you have to be up at 8 and then you will be.

@icedquinn that sounds like a good idea but, i've had work shifts that early and what ends up happening is i go to bed at 10 or 11 and wake up at like 3am and can't go back to bed. then i am still wide awake for all of work just to come home and pass out for another 4 hours, etc.

the shifts i just picked up at another job are morning shifts so maybe that will help normalize it a bit at least.

@beardalaxy Try turning out any light sources that glow above 3000K at least an hour before you go to bed.

@LoliHat my room is completely blacked out at night, i've even got my power strip and monitor LEDs covered with tape. it's less of a problem of going to sleep in the first place and more that i often can't *stay* asleep.

@beardalaxy

I recommend actual candles, and even scented candles.

Most people disregard how powerful a human's sense of smell it and can be.
@LoliHat @beardalaxy as a pyromaniac, you have NO IDEA HOW HARD THIS CHECKS MY BOXES

@LoliHat @beardalaxy
I have to reverse this advice...
Try turning lights ON when you want to be awake, even if it's the middle of the day.

Your house is blocking the natural sun anyway.

@LukeAlmighty @LoliHat it's just all over the place and I get bouts of extreme sleepiness where all I can do is sleep, but then I only sleep for a couple hours and am totally refreshed after that but it doesn't last long, etc. Every single time i wake up in the morning I'm canceling my alarm. The last time I got a single sleep of 8 hours was at least a month ago I feel like.

the problem is probably related to mood swings, if I had to guess.

I always have lights on until I'm going to bed. I like having as much light as possible throughout the day because low light kind of strains my eyes.

@LoliHat @LukeAlmighty interesting! I don't want to self diagnose but it might be worth looking into, as I know I already have a bipolar disorder and definitely brain damage from seizures too (though to what extent is unknown). Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

@beardalaxy @LoliHat
I will think about it.
In my case, it's obvious Revenge Bedtime Procrastination. :ablobcool:

@beardalaxy don't sleep for 3-4 days hallucinate and then pass out into a meatball sub. It's an old family trick from when I was a kid :slap:

@beardalaxy Oh yea the drug is the best, just don't take too much of it and stay up or you'll confess all your thoughts to people and won't remember it the next day.
