Progress on the world map zoom/pan system. I've updated the text to be darker and easier to see, and now the map will zoom in 3x. You can speed it up by pressing whatever you have bound to the dash button.
Do note that this does NOT apply to the fast travel screen. I want to keep that one zoomed out because I think whipping around a zoomed in map while trying to find a fast travel node will be pretty disorienting. Plus, clicking or moving to a node already pops up enlarged and enhanced text for easier readability, so I think it's fine.
If any future games I make use fast travel and a big world map though, I will definitely use this experience to further improve the way it operates.
All that's left to do now is add some UI!
Here is the basic implementation of the map zoom function. As you can see it saves your spot for the zoom, even when exiting and entering the map.
This is just with the current map image in the game. What I'll do is have a higher resolution image (200%) and swap it out with the lower resolution one whenever you zoom in. Just have to make that version. I have the higher resolution asset so it won't be an issue.
What do you think of the speed of the movement? Too slow? Too fast? Would you like to see it more zoomed in?
There will be prompts on the screen to tell you how to control the map, just haven't gotten to that yet.

stellar blade might be a little too souls-aligned for me to enjoy it, but it's just teetering on that edge. the autosaves and fast combat helps but there is still so much waiting around for enemies to do stuff and missing parries/dodges is still pretty punishing with those long combo strings you can't break out of. something i don't like in games much is when the enemies don't seem to react to you hitting them as much as the inverse and i can definitely feel that here. there are even enemies that lurk behind walls you can't see who pop up and get cheap shots on you. i'll keep playing for now, but i feel an impending doom that i'll reach a point where it gets to be a little too much.
also holy FUCK is there a lot of yellow paint. i don't think i've seen anybody mention this. is everyone really so distracted by eve's ass that they don't see it? this is normally a huge criticism for games and it's so annoyingly garish i can't help but notice it. to make matters worse they even have a scan button that will highlight these parts even more, as if you couldn't tell already.
GEE I WONDER WHERE I GO? this is all within like a 5 minute stretch btw, there is soooo much more.
