@hindudindu I think this guy went to the wrong Japan
@matrix "you cheated not only on me, but on yourself"
here's some stuff to start with
@WandererUber @Spingebill there is..... a lot. it's harder to go through all of that than it is to point to a single thing because it's not openly done. like you can talk about biting circumcision in Judaism or how the Catholic church used to cut off kids' balls so that they would be able to sing high notes post-puberty. but with the shit the mormon church does it's all tucked away and not nearly as universal a meme as priests touching little boys.
if you watch/read anything about it, watch these two videos. they talk about the church's "child abuse help line" that is only usable by church authority in regards to two cases of abuse that had happened, were known, and ended with jail time and settlements: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3OqvQw_-ko
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ool6oN9P-hY
after that, this is a good place to get started: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mormon_abuse_cases
it's important to note that not every case that involves mormon people will implicate the church itself, and there are some examples of that on that listing so it's not perfect. the bit about fundamentalists doesn't apply, because FLDS is a different branch that is not recognized by the church. they're a fringe group led by a dude from a prison cell.
this paragraph though is particularly notable:
"In July 2023, a number of policies were put in place by the LDS Church in the United Kingdom to safeguard children and prevent abuse. Most notably, all British church members working with children, as well as members of bishoprics and stake presidencies, must now undergo a background check before beginning their callings. The changes came after several church members heavily lobbied both church and secular leaders for additional protections."
tell me, why would you need a background check for someone that was chosen through God's divine knowledge? why are we to the point where you need a background check? furthermore, why is this only implemented in the UK? everywhere else, they only have to take a course that is the equivalent of a small work training video that says "touching children is bad, mmkay?"
there was this large protest that happened several years ago where the church had excommunicated a BISHOP who was pushing for one-on-one interviews with bishops and children to end: https://www.sltrib.com/religion/2019/10/05/todays-historic-march-end/
it really is a rabbit hole tbh. for much more extended reading you can check out MormonLeaks: https://www.truthandtransparency.org/
just looking at the front page i found something i didn't know before and didn't hear anything about, but apparently the director of the videos used in the temple rituals was a child molester: https://www.truthandtransparency.org/news/2019/04/10/director-of-mormon-temple-videos-charged-with-first-degree-sexual-abuse-of-a-child/
again... these are the people who are trusted and appointed by those who claim to speak with God. it's utterly ridiculous. you shouldn't have to put up with all this shit to gain salvation, and i really don't think that's necessary. i'm not a fan of religion in general, for the most part i think they prey on people and while there are benefits to being a part of one, ultimately it always ends up feeling pretty fake to me.
amidst the people complaining about not being able to be gay and do drugs, the r/exmormon subreddit also has a lot of personal accounts and news of horrible shit that the church is doing on a daily basis. if you can stomach reddit that's a good place to check out too if you want some tea.
@tomie ....pun....intended??
>BG3 speedrun at ESA

>run already at 45min and barely over halfway through
>runner updated the game to the wrong patch right before his run
>glitch needed to beat a boss battle patched out
>run mercy killed
man what a trainwreck of a run. now onto cuphead though and look, there's a mayro.
Mormon rant from an exmormon
@Spingebill and when you confront them about any of it, all they have are excuses because they have been brainwashed and gaslit about everything. Or, in some people's cases, they'll get excommunicated for asking these questions or bringing it up as a real issue, and everyone just says "oh they're misled by Satan" or some shit. Or, at worst, "they're just lying for attention!" I know some guys that don't like the church but still believe in the religion, and it's like DUDE PLEASE WAKE UP! It's hard though because these people have been ingrained into it from the day they were born, and their entire family is still ingrained into it, and it's not uncommon to get pretty much disowned if you leave.
Mormons are the Jews of Utah. They own a shit ton of land, they have a shit ton of money in big pharma, they have literal tunnels going underneath all of their main institutions... I could go on. Then all of their "secret temple stuff" is literally just freemasonry with a religious veneer. They make you learn secret handshakes at the temple and give you a secret name because that's the only way you'll be let into heaven, apparently. Weird shit man, being in there doing those rituals is the worst my spirit has ever felt. Apparently it used to be even worse because the guy who gives you the secret name would like, put his hands under your shirt for "religious purposes" and that wasn't limited to men.
It's true that there is a lot of unity in the church, but that leads to group think and makes them more easy to control. Plus, if you leave the church, even peacefully, you leave that unity. Even when I was questioning things I had people who started to distance themselves from me. It's not so much "white unity" (which is stupid to say anyway because it's really only utah where they're all white, missionaries get a lot of brown people from third world countries roped into it and there is actually a pretty big islander community in Mormonism) as it is religious unity. Perhaps zealous unity.
It's a cult, honestly.
@PurpCat made with prehistoric rpg maker, at that!
