@coolboymew @ChristiJunior @TrueMasterCole holy shit they are expensive. i don't think i'll ever need one, i only got sd cards for my switch for modding purposes lol. give it a bit though, once you actually need one they will have gone down in price a bit.

@TrueMasterCole @ChristiJunior @coolboymew no i think you read it right, that's how it works i'm pretty sure. if it's just the photos you care about though you can just put the sd card into your computer and pull them out manually.

@TrueMasterCole @coolboymew but there is a certain point where everything you own will have some degree of stupid shit behind it, whether it is malicious lawfare, child labor, or weird trannies. sometimes it's fine to just not care if it's not going to affect you. i just wanna play some fun games haha.

People are freaking the fuck out now because Nintendo has started banning consoles that are using the MIG Switch on the Switch 2.

In reality, this is what Nintendo has always done on the Switch 1, even. If you had any pirated games, not mods but pirated games, and connected online... your entire Switch would get a console ban. You can still play your downloaded games after unlinking your account but you can never connect to Nintendo's servers again on that console. You can still play physical games. Your console isn't bricked, you just were stupid and got yourself banned. This is the same thing happening on Switch 2.

If you are using a MIG Switch on the Switch 2, you NEED to keep that thing offline. Forever. Which means it'll be essentially the same thing as having a console ban. This is how playing pirated/backup copies of games worked on the Switch 1, and it is how it has worked on other consoles as well. Wii and Wii U are exceptions because Nintendo had shit security back then. PS Vita is an exception because Sony just kind of doesn't give a fuck about the PS Vita. If you're going to be playing backups on a brand new console though, taking it online is the WORST idea. People got way too comfortable knowing that the MIG Switch had worked around the Switch 1's security, but obviously Nintendo would have figured something out for the Switch 2.

IN THE FUTURE, if somebody finds out how to mod the Switch 2 and we get parity with the Switch 1 in terms of things you can do with it, you will be able to make an emulated NAND. This effectively works as a second console stored on your SD card. This is the one you keep offline, forever, to do things like playing backups and perhaps even doing things like using mods on games and emulators. Your console won't be banned because there won't be any detected activity on your system NAND, the one present on your console itself.

Until that day though, any and every tool that lets you bypass any security that the Switch 2 has does have the possibility of getting your console banned so tread with absolute caution and keep things offline until some other dummy finds out the hard way that it's fine to be online.
