I don't how why but for the past several days I've really wanted to play CK3. I tried it once years ago but I was at work on a laptop and it just didn't really click. Started it up again tonight and I am still in the tutorial with the Irish dude but I'm getting it a bit more. Figure I'll probably just play until the feeling wears off lol.

On May 29, 1453, Constantine XI Palaiologos, the last Roman Emperor, died defending the city of Constantinople against the Ottoman army of Sultan Mehmed II.
The night before, he entered Hagia Sophia and received Holy Communion. For the last time in history, Catholics and Orthodox partook of the Eucharist together.
When Constantine was advised to flee, he refused. He addressed his men in a final speech that the historian Edward Gibbon later called “the funeral oration of the Roman Empire.”
At dawn, he took off his imperial regalia, rode into battle as an ordinary soldier, and died fighting with his men on the walls. His body was never found.
He is remembered as the emperor who chose to die with his people rather than betray his faith.
