@icedquinn @Awoo @alyx @IcyGrillz there's not a whole lot in psychology that can actually be OBSERVED, it's all a lot of theory crafting and people trying to understand other people, rather than people trying to understand the world/universe. it gets a bit messier. but it is super interesting to read about and think about. one psychologist will have completely different ideas than another one. i feel like some of it relates to philosophy.

@kuken @applejack @histoire i actually just saw a youtube recommendation today about how there was a recent study done finding that saturated fat doesn't lead to heart disease.

science on stuff is definitely always changing and other findings are always happening, with plenty of politics involved. just watched a video about a guy who faked finding several elements as well and it was pretty telling of how much the scientific community fudges stuff back and forth.

i think the biggest takeaway is to just do what makes your body feel healthy!

@matana @applejack @histoire i know that there are people out there with epilepsy that have gone on keto and had quite a bit of success with their seizures being toned down, but imo there are better ways of just losing weight or whatever than going on keto.

i'm also worried that if i cut out carbs my seizures would get worse, considering that changing the way i ate originally helped my seizures a lot (eating smaller meals and snacks throughout the day instead of 2 or 3 large ones).

the appendix is theorized to still have some sort of function (that being holding good bacteria), but people that don't have it don't really have any problems that a normal person would so we don't exactly know if it does anything at all.

also just a funny note somewhat relating to that is that my conspiracy theorist coworker the other day was trying to tell us that the more parasites you have in your body the more likely you are to be gay, and when people take ivermectin they stop being gay because it kills parasites xD

@matana @applejack @histoire i mean, our bodies also have wisdom teeth and an appendix which can blow up and kill you but does nothing otherwise.

people have been masturbating since the dawn of time and plenty of animals do it as well. the ones who were out there saying that it was unhealthy for you were usually the ones raping little boys in confessional booths or trying to prey on people's gullibility so they could take their money.

@BlinkRape your low-latency too.

i really want to get a crt monitor but i just do not have space for it, nor do i have the desire to rope someone into driving me like 2 hours to get one

@applejack @histoire nobody said you had to look at porn when you do it.

it's the difference between a well-oiled door and a door that creaks horribly and it isn't until someone complains about it that you actually oil the hinges.

@icedquinn @alyx @IcyGrillz somewhat related, iirc there was a study done where a scientist had a bunch of people go to a mental health institution and claim they were crazy and some of them got locked in there and the scientist had to confirm it was just a study.

@BlinkRape the only wolfenstein game I liked was the new colossus

@histoire the reason wet dreams happen is usually because you're too pent-up and it's the body's way of flushing out everything. Semi-frequent masturbation is good for you, as long as you aren't doing it chronically or using it as a coping mechanism. And not beating your dick to a pulp obviously.

Not jerking off for a month is probably bad for your prostate health anyway
