@rasterman yeah it got fucky, i haven't been to an in-person tournament since 2019 because they were all requiring masks, and even though that's gone away now, most of them still require vaccination which sucks. there was a big regional tournament that happened here in 2022 that i unfortunately was unable to go to.

however, a relatively recent thing that's happened with melee is the advent of rollback play, a program called Slippi, and they just added ranked. so while i don't really play melee myself, it'll be interesting to see how those rankings turn out if there is anyone who has been unable to make it to tournaments taking names over there.

but for a long time, the scene has become very "esports," super sanitized, so whenever a tournament comes around where it seems like everybody is just having a good time and there is more hype happening on the commentary than actual commentary, i'm all for it.
