@rlier23 @ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty @Jens_Rasmussen @NEETzsche i think when you are able to toggle it off and on really quick, that's when it can be good, because the toggle automatically acts as a center function. when it is the main method of aiming in a game, it gets really annoying to always have to recenter when things get out of alignment. when you've got something like the wii motion pointer, there's no centering that has to be done because there is a physical object separate from the controller communicating that instead of sensors in the control itself just trying to guess where you're pointing based on previous info.

@noyoushutthefuckupdad there's a rollercoaster here that looks like this and it's fucking awesome. there are a couple of reverse corkscrews and loops in there too.

@ChristiJunior @LukeAlmighty @Jens_Rasmussen @NEETzsche dude, goldeneye and conduit on the wii were my shit. actually really fun games. i never really had too many problems with the wii pointer tbh. weird control setup, but i'd kind of rather use that than gyro because with gyro you constantly have to reorient things. it's best when done sparingly. that's one of the hurdles of VR, still. you need a load of cameras and trackers to get it right, whereas the wii just had an IR sensor bar that could be replaced with candles lmao. it was also really cheap so it had a much lower barrier of entry. i know there's a difference in application there but it is still kind of funny. the wii pointer + the wiimote's gyro made for some pretty good controls, actually. at least in games where it wasn't just tacked on because of some stupid requirement.

for example, i would have much rather played a star fox game where you control with the nunchuk and aim with the wiimote, than star fox zero on wii u where you have to aim with the gyro controls and recenter them all the time.

@icedquinn @LukeAlmighty oh man i wish that the xbox naming scheme was that simple xD it would technically be xbox 4 we're on right now but yeah, there were 3 different versions of the xbox one and now there are two versions of the xbox series. it just gets confusing as fuck. at least ps5 just has a digital and disc version, but all the specs are the same.

@icedquinn @LukeAlmighty a lot of console games are starting to get PC-like settings menus as well, and none of them are cohesive because they all have different console gamer terms for shit. all these different "mode" toggles, sometimes that don't even make sense. it's probably doing more harm to the console gaming market than good, because instead of just focusing on putting out well optimized games they can just chuck the settings menu in there and say "well you're not playing on the performance mode, so that's why your game isn't running as good."

@ChristiJunior idk, i don't watch other FGC games. considering that one of the top players in a lot of them is a non-binary, gay furry though, i would assume as such.

@ForbiddenDreamer @bronze WHAT THE FUCK

you can get one of these for like $100

granted it won't be hand knitted but that's a disgusting price

The US gov, through the FBI, had the censorship units at major internet platforms on speed dial.

Public figures that claimed such a year ago were cast out of polite society as lunatics. When it is now established to be true, the same polite people now shrug: "Trust the ruler."

@LukeAlmighty i don't think it will push PC gamers back to consoles, but it will certainly help keep some console gamers as console gamers. they think "why would i pay $700 for just one component when i could pay $500 for the whole thing?"
