@teto eh, I'm expecting that kind of stuff playing FF tbh lol. I bought the game because I really liked the spectacle and I haven't been let down, that's for certain
@teto I think because in Witcher 3 there's actually the whole morality system and you can have some really interesting interactions depending on how you handle things, even going so far as to affect other quests.
In FF16 they're all just glorified fetch quests or "kill x thing" quests. The interesting parts in FF16's side quests come from learning more about the world and the people in it but they're all linear and all have you doing 1 of like 3 things that are all basically the same thing when it really boils down to it.
There's clearly a difference in game design though, where FF16 is a lot closer to an older JRPG and Witcher 3 is an open world RPG. I don't really mind it.
I know the game gets some critique because there are moments in the main story that are really slow too, that practically just feel like more side quests. It reminds me a lot of downtime during a D&D campaign where nothing is really going on and you spend some time just doing random tasks for people and getting more enveloped within the world itself. I like it, but I wouldn't mind if it was different either.
Apparently I have 10-15 more hours of FF16. Game is definitely a little bit long for my tastes and has a good amount of filler, but at the very least that filler often serves to actually flesh out the world instead of JUST being padding. It's filler, but it's still somewhat engaging. The parts where the main story really ramps up are also totally worth it and the combat is fun enough that I rarely run past encounters.
I'm mainly wanting to be done with it just so I can move on to the next thing, which is Hollow Knight.
