It seems I will be totally alone on Christmas. That's okay, I've had a lot of family events recently anyway. As everyone gets older and moves farther away it is increasingly hard to get everyone in the same place at the same time, so you just gotta make the most of it when you can.

@themilkman @teto @absurdlyobfuscated some of us are sick in the head and it's actually really based

rivals of aether 2 counts for 21% across the playtest, the demo, and the full release. they're all treated separately though.

the "real" fourth place game would be the system shock remake at 4%.

this also doesn't include sh2 remake because, well, i don't have it on steam.

@Jens_Rasmussen unreal engine has always been pretty popular, ever since unreal 3. more and more studios are switching all the time, though, and abandoning their more proprietary and unique engines. i am absolutely dreading witcher 4 because of it. i really don't think unreal is a good engine for open world games. it's barely a good engine for linear ones with how much it stutters and shits itself. it also just tends to kind of look like sludge unless the developers are going for a really stylized art style.

that's not to say that you can't make a very polished game with unreal 5, it's just that i think the reason so many studios are switching to it is because it is easier and because it is easier, it leads to a "just get it done" mentality instead of "get it perfect." if that makes sense.
