@Immahnoob "oh he is wealthy and handsome and kind and has everything she could ever want!"
like put yourself in her shoes for a second. there's a girl who is wealthy and beautiful and kind and appears to have everything you would ever want, but you barely know her outside of her professions of love for you. it is an extremely unwise choice to just immediately marry them because they are infatuated with you.
"she gets all that she'd want if she weren't a girlboss"
what she wants is to not jump into a marriage that could end up like her parents' because she doesn't even fuckin know the guy. what she wants is to still be able to be friends with everyone she knows back home unlike her sister and other women who get married and then are barely heard from again. she doesn't just want a dude who is rich and handsome, she wants a man who understands and loves her and lets her continue to be herself. and that isn't being a slut riding on cocks or some shit, she has dreams and aspirations and views marriage as a possible harm to those things, so she's gotta make sure that the guy she's getting married to isn't going to take that away from her. as a guy, you should make sure that the woman you are going to marry will respect your wishes as well. this is healthy relationship 101.
it is starting to seem to me that the people calling this game woke are pretty extreme in their views on relationships, marriage, and women and i just fundamentally disagree with them. the type of people who think women shouldn't have rights and shit.
like, if you're the type of person who thinks that women are only going to be able to build a relationship with men in an arranged marriage and should be completely subservient to their husband at all times i just wholeheartedly disagree. this seems like more of a personal problem if your reading of this game's story is "oh it's woke."
@All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl oh okay you're talking about this: https://youtu.be/iyi-ncOXRzo?t=193
there's no button prompt, it's just an animation that plays out. he's not being shoved across the room either lol it's just a "get off me" move. heather in sh3 does similar stuff too i'm pretty sure.
and if you don't have enough health to survive the attack, she gets her head pummeled in to a pulp.
the polearm is a special weapon you get in the spirit realm, then there is also a katana and a lightsaber you can get in ng+, typical silent hill stuff, but every other weapon is just a mundane thing like a pipe or whatever. james can drag around and attack with the giant knife in sh2 somehow too lmao, these are video games, concessions will be made sometimes.
@TrueMasterCole dead or alive is sick actually, i like the way it feels to play way more than tekken.
@koimata oh i don't care about branching out lol i don't think i'm really the one that needs to do the branching xD
the only real issue i have with mastodon is how convoluted it is to do mod stuff. i also have a stylus theme to make it look a little bit more pleasing, which is going in the opposite direction of what pleroma looks like to me xD what i don't like about pleroma is that you can't click on a post to expand it to the discussion view, it is a little icon you have to click instead and it doesn't open to a separate page. just a matter of preference but i wish it had that functionality too. i do like how you can add your own backgrounds and stuff though that's pretty cool. what i really would like is a front end that makes it so you can have a song play on your profile lol, like the old myspace days.
i'm running windows 11 and it is almost exactly the same thing as my windows 10 experience after doing a few tweaks. i've had nothing but trouble with linux, unfortunately. i do still like linux from what i've used of it, but for every day use and stability windows is still amazing.
as far as nintendo goes, i fucking hate their legal stuff and they make some really wack choices with things like pricing and what they are producing, but they make great games that are free from bullshit so i'll keep buying them.
@All_bonesJones @Goalkeeper @Owl >One of the first things I saw in the game was a monster pinning Hinako to the ground and you get a button prompt to do a double-leg kick that launches him across the room.
do you have a clip of this? xD i never saw that in the game at all. any time you get grabbed by an enemy there's just an animation that happens and you get a bunch of damage dealt to you before hinako is able to finally shake the thing off. no button prompt at all. maybe there's a cutscene where she does that i'm forgetting about though.
@Owl @rlier23 @Goalkeeper @DEERBLOOD @LittleTom the combat is serviceable, it's only made a lot worse by the camera.
it's obviously not a silent hill game though lol.
the stamina gets much better if you upgrade it and/or equip the omamori to increase it, which was a cool system because you can rearrange upgrades on the fly to fit the scenario you're about to go in. when i knew i was going to be running instead of fighting, it was all stamina and dodge related stuff. when i was fighting, it was health, stamina, and damage.
the biggest problems of the game design imo would be the puzzles because they got really weak in the last half, and the weapon durability system because there's no fallback for having no weapon and they just spawn more weapons for you instead. there are omamoris that will give you more damage depending on your weapon's durability, but that's about the only thing it affects. at least in zelda, the weapon does extra damage when it breaks and there are things you can use as weapons littered all over the place, so you're encouraged to use a bunch of them.
there is a "master sword" type weapon in the game that doesn't break but does recharge, but you can only get it on subsequent playthroughs. i think they should have had a default pocket knife or something that didn't break and then the weapons that dealt more damage, so you had to actually manage when you were using which weapons.
@veff @Owl @Goalkeeper @All_bonesJones metroid prime is a bit of an outlier here imo. it was a really good remaster of a 20 year old game to a new console for $40. not a remake, it didn't change anything, it made it way easier to play than the original. just improvements across the board.
all those other ones are full remakes that changed things quite a bit, usually to their detriment.
@Mr_NutterButter trump just barely declared that we are in an armed conflict with the cartels so we'll probably start seeing a lot more of it
@Immahnoob everyone saying this is missing some extremely key points.
the girl "taking her time" exists in the same body as the girl wanting to devote herself to kotoyuki, the man she was going to be married to in an arranged marriage. the same girl who defended kotoyuki just wanting to be together with her and be happy.
this "taking her time" is not the modern day equivalent of "taking her time." hinako was going to go into a forced marriage because her dad had debts he needed to pay off, and is legitimately scared about getting married due to everything she's seen with her own parents + how she was treated in 1960s JAPAN as a tomboy instead of a little perfect princess.
kotoyuki comes to the realization that, although he is extremely passionate for hinako, they barely actually know each other. they both agree that they need to wait a bit longer before marrying and they begin actually getting to know each other first.
hinako straight up tells kotoyuki "if the love you have for us was real, then i hope we can meet again. we'll think it through, slowly and carefully. we'll have our answer ready."
on top of all of this, if you want to go with the interpretation that the spiritual parts are far more real and not just hallucinated, which as far as i can tell so far the game leaves pretty vague, there is an ancient "spell" that causes kotoyuki to be extremely invested in hinako. he says that he wants to make sure his love for her is actually real and not just some spell binding them. reminds me a little bit of the witcher with yennefer and geralt actually.
the more "hallucination" interpretation of this would be that the "spell" is his strict mother (which is a whole other aspect of this story) and hinako's parents both trying to get them married, and that pressure to do so is hastening the pace so it feels like a spell has been cast.
people are looking at this game through way too much of a modern day political lens, absolutely brain rotted by other actually woke games. there is so much focus on hinako being some girlboss or something like that without taking *any* of the extra context in.
i don't know if people just have not gone through anything even remotely similar to what hinako has and so they just don't get it, or they are lacking something that lets them empathize with the character, or if they do empathize with the character and are just distancing themselves, or what. i'm sure the vast majority of people talking about it haven't played the game, haven't dove into the story as was intended by the writer, and are probably just being reactionary as a defense mechanism. youtubers doing it are probably just ragebaiting, whether they know it or not.
@ehhh i'm not talking about people like that, i'm talking about people who also didn't trust the government for the covid stuff. hence the poison pill.
come on! a WOMAN mayor?

@LittleTom the thumbnail is right but the title is wrong
@ChristiJunior disney is pretty fucking bad considering they hired a guy who was fired from nickelodeon for being a convicted child abuser
however something about nickelodeon is so much more brazen that i felt compelled to vote for them
mainly post about music and games, and share art from artists i like.
obviously i don't condone any sort of abuse/exploitation irl, go fuck yourself.
currently learning japanese.
