@mitchconner who tf are the dems gonna run, legitimately? Kamala again?

@smugumin @SuperSnekFriend I love wind waker so much but I'll admit the Wii U version fixed a lot of the dumb shit with traveling in it. The triforce quest in the original is brutal and I can't play the game without the swift sail now.

@beardalaxy Last 3 or 4 years the effect of giving the third world internet has been like a rotting fungus. Some 2D art sites are getting unbearable. Pixiv comments have gotten too fucked up and cunts are often soliciting in comments and on their profiles. While it probably wasn't the only reason ATF is going down it doesn't help there's been a monumental wave of two-standard-deviation fuckwads openly soliciting shit from their mud hut in a country where the police can't be bothered to go blow a hole through their skull.

The Build-a-Bear slogan should be "fluff around and find out"

@SuperSnekFriend @smugumin botw/totk get hate not purely because they are open world. it's just that the stuff that is in the open world sometimes isn't as good as what is in the linear games. the story in totk in particular sucks major ass and the dungeons are so openly designed that they feel cheap. in botw, a lot of people had criticisms over the dungeons all having the same exact motif and the shrines all being the same motif with just a single (usually very easy) puzzle inside.

although i really liked botw and i mostly enjoyed playing totk despite how much i shit on it, they do kind of feel like the quantity was the focus instead of the quality. all the other mainline games are way better and more memorable in terms of great dungeon design and story.

in general though, yeah, people are really burned out on open world games because they typically do focus on quantity over quality, or at worse even the PERCEPTION of quantity. i'd probably put something like MP4 in that camp. honestly i put shadow of the colossus in that camp too lmao but some people aren't ready for that conversation. that game kind of fuckin blows.

i'd much rather have a linear game with an extremely tight story that lasts like 8 hours than open world slop with way too much grinding and a story that can't feel narratively cohesive because you can approach it from so many different angles. it has to have some really fun gameplay loops to make it worthwhile, which i think botw/totk do have for at least dozens of hours, personally.

games like cyberpunk, witcher 3, and sleeping dogs are like perfect middle grounds imo.

@Yako @Meemoo i don't think the goal was to attract pedophiles necessarily, but to be an open "free speech" kind of platform and that naturally attracted pedos who couldn't talk about that kind of stuff anywhere else. it's the classic situation of letting yourself be taken over by people who do not give a single fuck about you, just because you want to uphold an ideal. happens all the time.

that's a good faith interpretation though, of course. regardless, i'm not sad about it getting shut down.

if you want a really good alternative, roriwalrus seems like it is the best spot. they've learned from ATF's mistakes.

@ninja8tyu @cunny it's ATF as a whole, from what i understand. there may be some talks to have ownership of certain parts transferred to other people. i know some people were thinking that iratu, the owner of pomf.tv, might do a decent job hosting the booru since they were a mod (admin) for it in the past? but that's just copium i think :pepeCopium:

even then, there would still be a lot of cleaning up to do.

i would download whatever you don't want to lose, though, absolutely.

@Rage_Grenade @Weiss @lillytea yeah, ATF's death is necessary for the health of the lolicon community at large. it may not seem like it, but this is a good thing. weird ass MAPs trying to trojan horse their way into loli, and through ATF they have unfortunately gained ground.

@cunny damn, the original lolicon

that profile pic is awesome lol

AllTheFallen's shutdown explained by the site's owner.

TL;DR #1: Legal pressure, though not direct. Monetary costs reaching unsustainable levels. Site users getting out of hand. Vistarrr recommends keeping any new sites niche and thinking hard about what kind of community you want to foster.

TL;DR #2: Vistarrr was away from ATF so the site admins and mods made a backup. They reinstated a mod who was previously removed to help do this by way of adding a backdoor. Vistarrr returns and tells people that the backup is dangerous and is assured it has been deleted. Said mod lied about deleting it, is unhinged, and chimps out, threatening to leak the entire thing. Any ATF clones that pop up after the website shuts down are NOT to be trusted.
