Couldn't brush my teeth this morning before work because there was bat in my bathroom and I didn't have time to deal with it. Now I'm going to have to spend my days off finding where the fucker came from.

@Iffine @Minty the bleak nihilism is very specific to Cyberpunk(tm) not the cyberpunk genre as a whole. pretty much every other cyberpunk story is not focused so much on the style or cool factor, they're kind of just cool by their very nature. they usually carry more substance than style, with a lot of exploration of inorganic vs organic things and what makes them different or alike. Cyberpunk(tm) doesn't really do any of that kind of philosophical stuff and it feels kind of surface-level for me as a result. it's still cool as fuck, don't get me wrong, but that's about all i can say.

cyberpunk usually takes place in a dystopia, of varying degrees. but nothing comes to my mind as being quite as fucked as Cyberpunk is, and the way it is fucked and the stories that are told just feel needlessly over the top for my tastes. i love the aesthetics and the worldbuilding and lore and everything but the actual stories being told and the way a lot of characters are written don't have enough substance to capture me which makes all the death and destruction feel annoying rather than saddening.

the granddaddy of cyberpunk, "do androids dream of electric sheep," ends with the main character basically finding peace and going to bed while his wife makes coffee and orders some food for his pet synthetic frog. now that i think of it, Cyberpunk is pretty much the only cyberpunk setting that is so fucked up which i guess carves its own section of the genre out, but it's a little unfortunate that it carries the same name because in actuality it is quite different from everything else. it's just extremely, borderline comedically, tragic by design and i'm not a fan of that.

Americans are the most Christian of all people and also the lewdest.

@Backstreetgirl yeah the weird pedo goonbait shit is getting to be too much if you don't even want to share it

@LukeAlmighty @xianc78 yeah it's quite the conundrum and i can see it going several different ways. i don't know what they're going to do but i'm pretty sure they're going to do something and we'll know about it soon.

@mischievoustomato @theorytoe @bronze I don't mind being with a woman that already has kids as long as we can all vibe well and I can still have one of my own, but even that is slipping away from me the older I get. I fear that, at best, I'll end up like my late grandpa who married his second wife who had no kids when they were in their late 40s and couldn't have kids anymore. They had a great marriage so it wouldn't be too bad I guess, but you know at the same time he still did have kids and grandkids...

@xianc78 the smash bros development cycle is actually surprisingly short, but a lot of it does rely on reused stuff. Though, I don't think we are getting a brand new one just yet. I don't know what's going to happen but Nintendo does know that smash is one of their biggest console sellers. I feel like something smash related is right around the corner. Every console since 64 has had a smash game and they usually come out within 2 years of the launch of the console. Switch 2 has been out for a year already. So, you know. I feel like it's close.

Star Fox 64 and Ocarina of Time have enhanced ports on the 3DS. They're literally the same code (obviously patched up) but with new assets. I wish they brought them over to the Switch much earlier. That's kind of too late now, I think. Ocarina of Time is a remake people have clamored for almost as much as FF7. I think it deserves one and could benefit greatly from it. It could also be completely fucked, but I'm trying not to put that energy out into the world and I generally trust Nintendo to do a good job.

What are we feeling for the Direct tomorrow boys?

I think OoT remake is a given but I also think they'll announce a new Zelda game. With the movie coming in hot next year they'll probably want to capitalize on that as much as possible. It could also be the WWHD/TPHD ports but I think something original would be apt so it isn't so heavy on remakes/remasters.

I think they'll talk a bit more about Star Fox as well. Maybe some Mario Kart updates and perhaps even what is next for Smash Bros.
