@beardalaxy I think it's important to point out that lolicon is banned in the U.K. (where this case occured) as CSAM, so, ironically, if it was legalized/decriminalized, then maybe this person wouldn't have done what they did...

@Aldo2 @beardalaxy i don't think lolicon prevents pedos from offending. if anything it would slightly increase it but i don't really think from what I've read that it's a "gateway drug" either. they're basically unrelated.

@bajax @Aldo2 i generally think that loli can help people cope with attractions BUT there is a big problem with people basically driving each other deeper in the loli community in certain spaces it seems, so you still have to go about it in a healthy way otherwise it won't go well. that's why it's important for lolicons to have a good antibody response when they see that type of shit and i don't see that enough.

another use case for loli as a coping mechanism i've seen is for people who have been abused. i don't really know the psychology behind it or anything but yeah.

@beardalaxy @bajax the psychology behind abuse coping mechanism is that the artist feels in control when she (mostly she for obvious reasons) is drawing, being in absolute control over a picture after experiencing trauma of completely losing control
subconscious is also playing a role: like, you can even detect children who are going through some kind of abuse based on not only what they draw, but how they draw it (with caution, naturally, because evil monster in a picture can turn out to be a cartoon character)
drawing and other creative outlets also might help to channel intrusive thoughts into something productive and healthy, art therapy is a thing (plus the action of traditional drawing is a good way to stim)
and no matter how pedos would want to think otherwise, even completely pedophilia-focused intrusions, like P-OCD, are not equal to pedophilia as attraction, nor are a "gateway"; and it's become a problem with younger adults who experience some kind of OCD, get wrongpilled online about lines on paper having more rights than real people, and begin to cope in a very destructive way; while older millennials and x-ers would more likely just become furries or something
lolicon can also simply exist as "I like cute art, therefore I make cute art", and in general it's not a gateway to pedophilic actions in the same way as playing FPS games is not a gateway to shooting your school

@tomie @beardalaxy @bajax This is why I hate the whole "ban loli/shota" thing. I know a Shota artist, really weird nerdy dude, who draws both /ss/ and homo shota art. It's *very* clear from his art which one is "god I wish I would've had this" and "this is my therapy."

@tomie @beardalaxy @bajax the ladies he draws are always slightly threatening looking (you know exactly what I'm talking about, don't lie) and proportions are exaggerated. with the male/male art it's more like "male bonding, but make it incredibly sexual" and I respect that.

@picandor @beardalaxy @bajax one very noticeable trend with male artists is all kinds of mom issues, which results in them drawing borderline grotesque honkers badonkers

@tomie @beardalaxy @bajax it wasn't his mom, but his teacher, but I do see your point. It's also why most of his onee-shota artwork is in/around a school.
