@djsumdog @EarlThePearls @seeker I think the presence of variants will also be an excuse not to take the vaccine. Some people will just go "it's pretty much endemic anyway, I'm better off just improving my immune system through nutrition".

It was Gates who sabotaged the WHO Covid-19 Technology Access Pool (C-TAP), replacing it with his failed ACT-Accelerator, a system of patents and secrecy and vast profits for the pharma industry, ornamented with nonbinding, failed promises of access for poor nations.

It was Gates who convinced Oxford to renege on its promise of patent-free access to its publicly funded vaccine research for the global south in favor of exclusive patent access for Astrazeneca.

Gates has always been a monopolist, and so naturally, he loves IP (before "IP" was a common term, copyrights and patents were called "monopolies").

Intellectual property is a very important part of the inequality story, the story of how we got to a world where billions of people are denied vaccines and where all people face new, more virulent strains as a result.

What happened to the early pledges by governments, the WHO, public health experts and research institutes to create global cooperation in vaccine development, eschewing patents and secrecy so that we could rescue our species?

That dream was smashed.

Many people helped create our vaccine apartheid, the single individual who did the most to get us here is Bill Gates, through his highly ideological "philanthropic" foundation, which exists to push his pitiless doctrine of unfettered monopoly.

@s8n @thenewoil @Anonagon @coolboymew I can't tell you how many gaming YouTubers who bash on mobile games but are willing the shill Raid Shadow Legends.

@coolboymew @thenewoil @Anonagon I haven't used the official Youtube front-end in years, so I don't even know what kind of ads are on it anymore. But I think sponsorships are even more cancerous than ads. Seeing the creators themselves outright endorsing shit like VPNs that are confirmed honeypots or some microtransaction-heavy mobile game is outright cancerous.

@shebang @hfaust >ethical software

Not gonna lie when I first read about this I thought it was a joke. Some kind of 4chan psyop conspiracy like the Feminist Software Foundation. For quite a while I really did not think it was real.

But no it is real and there's actually people out there that unironically believe that people who do not align politically with them should not be allowed to use software. Please never engage with these types of people seriously and let them know that this idea is ridiculous beyond any possible reasoning.

Of course "ethical software" are all considered nonfree by both the FSF and OSI, as they interfere with freedom 0, the freedom to run the program as you wish.

@sizzletron

Blame the media and blame the government, but also blame the public for being unwilling to think for themselves.

Very sad indeed.

@djsumdog @lelouchebag Reminder that most if not all pandemics have never ended with a vaccine.

@lelouchebag There’s nothing to even show any of these vaccines are even effective. When cruise ships go back into operation is where we’ll see the results: if infections still spread with the same veracity as prior to vaccinations (they are mandatory on cruise ships now) .. they might just try to blame people they claim faked their vaccine passports too.

Your scenario is possible too. Just look at what happens with Polio vaccines. It hasn’t been eliminated, despite the same efforts put into it as was Small Pox. The wrong vaccine type for Polio in the wrong region can lead to outbreaks.

Immune enhancement syndrome and dependency are possibilities. Without long term animal reproductive studies, so is a real Children of Men situation. I’m sure they’ll find some way to blame the virus instead of the vaccine.

@djsumdog @Ricotta I'm no expert on the history of Microsoft, but from what I've heard Paul Allen was probably more involved than Bill Gates and Bill just took all the credit. It's just another Steve Jobs/Steve Wozniak situation.

I wasn't even born yet at the time but I was told that had Commodore adopted the same business model as IBM/Microsoft (license their Amiga OS and architecture to other computer manufacturers), Microsoft would probably have never become a monopoly.

@djsumdog @CommonSay @Ricotta Well, according to the TED Talk Bill Gates did back in 2010, he implied that he wanted to lower the population by 10-15% by 2050.

@djsumdog @Ricotta And yet my mom still idolizes Bill Gates for "helping the sick and the poor". As a kid, she would always paint Bill Gates as a role model for me. I'm glad I never idolized him myself.
