Incompatibility and double-dipping have always been their M.O. since the 1990s, and in their avarice, wielded digital restrictions management so poorly that they popularized the rootkit malware class on Windows. Whenever given the opportunity, expect Sony to break your shit and make you pay for the "privilege" of getting it back in some contorted form.

Metroid Fusion was one of my first gaming experiences and holds a special place in my heart for that. And while I was hoping for years for a new entry, I don't feel too thrilled about Dread. I think it's just the basic 3D style, which looks eerily similar to Samus Returns on the 3DS. Would've a new pixel-style entry been really that unpopular?

Fun fact: It was already hinted 14 years ago in a terminal log in Metroid Prime 3: "Experiment status report update: Metroid project "Dread" is nearing the final stages of completion."

Also, some recent info: "The general concept of Dread, in which Samus was chased by an overwhelming enemy that she could not defeat, had not changed over the 15 years. While the game places an emphasis on "fear-based gameplay", it is not intended to make Dread a horror game and the E.M.M.I. will not be present everywhere. The story will be important to Dread, but not intrusive, making use of occasional cutscenes similar to Samus Returns."

In all honesty, the American response to COVID should leave all of us optimistic for the future. It proved beyond a shadow of doubt that while The Empire was able to exercise its narrative control system at full power over its loyal subjects, a substantial and geographically definable are of its homeland just decided to ignore its decrees with no retaliation. Instead of doing the hard work of bringing rural areas and entire states like Florida to heel, The Empire doubled down on its demands of its loyalists instead.

It proved the system and its empire are no longer willing to do the hard work of enforcing rule over uncooperative peoples in nominally domestic territory. They can rally the capital cities of the empire, from NYC to Melbourne, to their cause but they can no longer get the heartland to respond through displays of soft power. Sure, they can still exploit underlying racial tensions as a form of implicit hard power, but that is in the interests of their main unifying objective and still relies on fundamentally destabilizing displays of explicitly racial violence.

The takeaway should be that the elite have grown cowardly and lazy. Expect the future to look more like inwardly targeted purges and punishments as a cowardly elite attacks the cowardly people for remaining loyal to them. What's coming is coming for all of us but expect the greatest abuses to occur to those closest to the system as they're the easiest targets.

I’m getting tired with how stupid the news thinks people are. My state has the lowest case count and hospitalization rate since early rona so now they throw up these charts showing that some big number like 70% of new cases are from the Indian variant intended to scare people ,but fail to put it into context that like it’s out of 100 cases a day not 4 or 5 thousand a day like during the heat of the demic. Twitter is a circular firing squad, Reddit is a karma-farming ARG that trains conformists, Facebook forces politics on you to try to create engagement, and they're fire-and-forget platforms that don't require hosting costs or PHP knowledge or your users to use BBCode and host their own images. It's sad to see what everything has become.
