A Catholic School voted to ban pride flags and assorted memorabilia, woke students tried to protest but were quickly drowned out and overwhelmed by based students who destroyed the pride flags and broke up the protest.

Here's what happens when you defederate the entire internet, you'll be back on Reddit and users will be asking you "hey man why can't I talk to XYZ". This is literally what has happened to dozens of Mastodon instances already.
There are a lot of people on this ActivityPub thing who will block you for using the wrong software stack, block you because some old passed around list also had some domains that haven't been online in years, and the best part is they will never ask you before doing so. There's no way around this, other than running monolithic websites such as rdrama.net (which only work for one community).

@threalist @realcaseyrollins None. The social news format is terrible. Up/downvotes and karma create a groupthink mentality and elitist culture that is even worse than traditional forums.
@beardalaxy Using a microblogging protocol for a video host does make sense because you are subscribing to channels which is like following users.
Also why is Lemmy using ActivityPub? It should be using it's own protocol instead of one that is intended for microblogging.

@ItsSkyDragonz That's an unexpected compliment, but thanks. SVGs in video games can look good, but they are really designed for logos. I can't do hand-drawn art because both my hands are as good as a right-hander's left-hand.
What's the point of using Lemmy if all the instances are blocking each other? Just go back to forums.

That is exactly what I am saying tho. People get degrees but don't bother to network or do anything to stand apart. Your resume is now the real real degree. The whole system is just broken because Americans were delusional and thought everyone could become college educated and everyone could have a high paying job and no amount of loan forgiveness or trade schools will fix it.

Is there an old net movement somewhere with a website, arguments and etc?
Listening to @All_bonesJones going on about some Twitch streamer unhappy about Twitch policies and apparently Twitch staff came to talk shit in the chat and dude could not ban them or something
I suggested moving to their own website for streaming. I know it's possible to still have bits, subs, donation and co via outside services too
Also, as far as I know, a lot of youtubers already doesn't rely on ads, they rely on outside subs, and they might be entirely demonetized already anyways
IMO it's about time a lot of people just go old school and start moving their shit on personal websites already
