Another cultural/lifestyle rant that is probably going to piss people off

@Mr_NutterButter @beardalaxy I've already said that dogs are useful for hunting and farming, even today. I'm really talking about the common household where they really serve no practical purpose unless you are disabled.

And I'm probably the only person on Earth who doesn't find dogs or cats cute. I don't know why someone would ever associate cuteness with creatures that will eat garbage, drink from toilets, and literally eat their own shit. Cleaning either of them seems to be a pain because neither dogs nor cats like it. Cats are generally afraid of water and would rather clean themselves with their own saliva.

Dogs are also paradoxically associated with ugliness along with cuteness. I see women referring to gross men as "dogs" all the time, but they will also consider dogs cute. I really don't get it. Cats are also considered ugly in some circumstances but this is mainly referring to urban stray cats.

@ArdainianRight The playing with your kids part is still iffy though. It depends on how old and mature your children are. It could be a good learning opportunity to teach them responsibility, but I would wait until they are at least seven, just given how dangerous dogs can be.

Seriously, what is the fucking point of owning a pet? Sure, dogs could be useful if you own a farm or are disabled, but they, along with cats are fucking useless and are a burden to the common household.

Just consider these points:

* They provide no benefit. You give them all the love and attention. You spend money on pet food, toys, training, trips to the vet, etc, but you get NOTHING in return.
* They destroy furniture and piss and shit everywhere. It could take months to years just to train them properly, at least for dogs anyway. Cats are virtually untrainable.
* Even if you do train them, they will still shed fur everywhere which adds extra cleaning.
* Pets can carry diseases and pests like fleas, ticks, and bedbugs. You are wasting your time and money on a literal health risk.
* They can't understand human language. You need to raise your voice and show body language to get them to listen to you. This is difficult for someone who is mostly monotone like me.
* They are a burden to guests. Dogs are territorial and xenophobic by nature. They will bark and growl at anyone they deem outsiders. There even have been times where I came over to people's places and the house owners had to lock their dogs in the garage or basement just because how violent they are.
* Dogs on average live for 13 years. For cats, that's 15. With human children, they grow up and become independent adults and you as a parent feel accomplished. Pets literally live shorter lives than a human childhood and give you no sense of accomplishment. I don't get why so many people who can't have children or fall for the overpopulation scam get pets instead of adopting children. Having a pet is the equivalent of raising a severely retarded child who won't make it to adolescence.

With all these points, I can't see any reason for the average household to own a pet. They are nothing but a burden. For the love of God, just have children or adopt. You won't get anything from having an animal wondering around your house. In fact, it actually sounds really weird when you think about it, so just don't do it.

@PraxisOfEvil Seeing him getting into a confrontation with Alex Gleason was absolutely hilarious.

@PraxisOfEvil Unless it's some Pieville-tier schizo who has to make everything about them. Link related.

@djsumdog I can relate to that. I did a lot of programming in middle school and early high school, but my productivity reduced partially due to internet addiction. Even imageboards which naturally don't have notifications destroyed my productivity.

Another side quest finished! Huzzah! Made another NPC and 2 new maps for it. It also works with another existing NPC for a little easter egg.

> This is also why libertarian style arguments and the NAP are silly, aggression is good

I am so sick of people using the Reddit version of a philosophy as a strawman. Zero people are arguing it. This is why totalitarians are silly: you just shoot them if they start trying to do anything besides making noise.

Please find any case where I have said that aggression is inherently wrong or where I have said that the NAP is reasonable; I have not. The closest I have ever gotten is calling it a reasonable personal ethos. I have, in this thread, said that my preferred method is to make sure no one can stop me rather than to ask them not to try.
